Really? The M4 CSL is $139,000 with likely $20k plus ADM. Why would the M3 CS be cheaper unless 1000 plus units are coming to the US. BTW anyone know how many units are going to be produced?

With the recently announced price hike for MY23, I wouldn't be surprised is CS pricing is around $120-125k range. But this point, everything might be just a speculation. |

Since the CSL didn’t turn out to be what I expected as in a street legal track car I suspect the CS can become the real cult car and the real gem of this generation. It seems it will potentially have the same driveline and chassis as the CSL has plus being a proper street first M car with rear seats…the AWD will help narrow the performance gap to the lighter CSL somewhat but probably not reach it which doesn’t matter much in these cars meant primarily for the street where the extra traction of the CS will mean higher performance most days
If it’s significantly cheaper, it will for sure be the one I rather have. |

The CSL is just built for a more focused purpose, I know many wanted it to have back seats but now that BMW builds the M3 and M4 it's just logical to use the 2 door version for an easy weight saving seat delete. Only thing worrying me a bit about the CS is the weight for regular track use but the CSL even at 3650lbs won't be so simple. I looked at ordering a 911 GTS for the "after-CSL" but found out it's also a 3570lbs car in pdk.. No wonder GT4s are so popular for regular track days.

So if you want a light weight street first but trackable M car where ultimate performance isn’t a priority the CSL at $140k might not be the best choice. And the M2 could be maybe $65k starting? The CS on the other will only have the M5 CS to deal with as a 4 door in house threat. |

There is a chance that the G87 will have a special edition that is on par with it. The G87 will be all about how the car feels rather than outright performance. Also this constant assumption that the M3 CS will somehow cost less than an M4 CSL and M5 CS (which were about the same price) is hilarious. It's going to have a $140k starting price. |

What the M2 will have is the same engine in another tune and the same tires (dimensions), probably same dampers. It’s not all that different if it weigh less or the same… |

Well after owning an M2 for 3 years I wouldn't go back. Now that I discovered the dynamics of the longer wheel base chassis. Yes the M2 gives you more feeling for the same speed but it's more twitchy, bouncy and snaps in a less progressive way vs the M3/4.
Anyways my major grip with the new 2 series is I can't sit in the back like I could in the prior generation so unless your only carrying childs or very small people it's no more useful than any dedicated sports car. I understand the move from BMW but it's a shame since it was such a versatile car. I also fiddled with the idea of ordering a M3CS and deciding which one to keep between CSL and CS but I think I'm done with compromises, a 3 car setup just makes more sense now. I taught I would have plenty of fun with the M340i during winter time but it didn't happen and I needed an SUV way more than I originally thought.

You should drive the new M240i. It’s a very different 2 series, non of those issues exist on the new platform (we have an M240i). The new M2 should be a spectacular car

Has there been any updates on when they will announce the CS? I imagine they are waiting as they currently are marketing the Wagon and M4 CSL.

I think what many people are missing is the CSL is as much a "collector" car as it is anything else. Its a 50th anniversary special car, it isn't trying to usurp, I think it stands on its own for BMW as a brand. That's why I am buying one, I have other cars and as was mentioned above by PLF69, I'm done with compromise cars.

Any more info on the M3CS recently? The next BMW official announcement will probably be the M2, but hopefully soon afterwards it will be the CS.

I understand that buckets are standard but do we know if the bucket seats will be the only option on the CS?

This is the CSL, you have no idea if this transfers for the CS and it's likely it doesn't.
