single midpipe + a valve controller is the most popular setup. It's the best starting point, in my opinion.

No, I guess I didnt phrased it clear.
What I meant was, I wonder what would be the difference in sound and power of a single midpipe + valve controller vs 400 cell × single midpipe + valve controller... I want to do the second one but not sure if is worth it basically.

the downpipes make the biggest difference in sound and performance, so it's definitely a worthy upgrade.

We have sold hundreds of these downpipes without any problems, any issue with fitment must have been a 1 off or just a bad batch

Seems like it was a one off issue, other people in the thread who bought them didn’t report issues. My latest replacement (Actice Catted shortpipe) did not have any issues with fitment, I measured them compared to the OEM downpipes with a caliper and there was a 0.38mm difference, but both were under 84mm in diameter.

100% worth it in my opinion. But if you're not sure, just start off with the single midpipe and valve controller and go from there. You don't need to do everything at once.

Final Update:

Active sent me a new Active Cat shortpipe to replace the Gesi cat shortpipe in my car. I had the work done today and now I'm running Active Cats on both the long pipe and short pipe. No fitment issues this time around, made sure to measure both before installing and both were more or less the same, under 84mm, compared to the 85mm that the first pipe had. Getting my exhaust dialed in took longer than I was expecting but overall, I'm happy.

I just got unlucky with an issue (I'm very unlucky when it comes to car mods lol), but thanks to Active's awesome customer support, everything came out fine in the end with no monetary loss on my end. Would I get these again? 100%.

Agreed, if anything, my experience should show you that should you get something that isn't up to standard, Active will make it right.

It seems they hired some rookies out of highschool to rig up jigs and work the inventory seeing what turnsignalslol just went through
You keep saying buy stuff from reputable vendors rather than ali, yet look what he went through buying from a reputable vendor.

Them shits was prototype ones being sent out. It was most likely a fast run welded by a noob who not only had shit welds on the CATs but also overheated the flanges and caused them to expand and change shape a little. It’s very easy to do if you can’t weld for shit. You could buy the nicest flanges from Radium and still fuck shit up and I doubt the flanges they use are super high quality to begin with.

Anyway, I’d be interested if the new one sent was still of the same PROTO batch. Like who the fuck sends that out to people paying full price. That should be some shit you send out to people paying a discounted price for a test product which you could expect to either had slight fitment issues or be perfect. It’s a test bed run, not full price production product, but it looks like they chose to send those early units out so they didn’t lose out on money and profit margins. Whatever… at least the OP got their problem resolved without having to come out of pocket, so at least that’s reputable of AA.

Mistakes can happen; as I mentioned in a previous post, they’re a part of life, even for me. What sets a reputable vendor apart from random sellers on eBay or Alibaba isn’t the absence of mistakes but how they handle them.

the customer feels valued and sees that every effort was made to make things right. From what I can tell in this thread, the customer is happy with the resolution, and a few others are trying to stir negativity because of their dislike for Active Autowerke.

If this situation had occurred with a less reputable vendor, the outcome would likely have differed. The vendor might have blamed the customer, refused to address the issue, or demanded the item be shipped back to China at the customer’s expense a cost that often outweighs the value of the solution.

Again, going back to whats important. the customer that went through all of this is happy and keeps recommending active autowerke

Interested in buying this DP during the Black Friday sale but unsure if I really need the GESI over the Active cats. All I'm concerned about are no CEL, best value in terms of sound/performance/flow, and passing emissions in NC.

performance, sound and no CEL guarantee is the same with either car

GESI cat is EPA approved
Active is pending

not sure if that makes a difference in your state

Thanks Mike - whether or not that matters is exactly what I’m trying to determine. Googling hasn’t proven too useful though for this…I can’t quite get a read on how exactly my county (Wake, NC) tests emissions.

Do you have any insight as to how I might best determine if the GESI would be required to remain compliant in my state?
