Thoughts?
better in what way?

power and sound will not be a major difference either way so i dont think one option is better than the other.

I know neither one will make more power because Im not changing my map. Im not happy with them as a vendor from the perspective of resolving issues when they mess up … it’s taking far too long. Then im looking at the driver side tube and theres no mounting to stabalize it like there is on other intakes …. On others theres two tabs which attach to the body of the car with bolts. Makes me concerned for NVH during use and all of it going directly to the turbo housing. If everyone else is using the provided mounting points and they arent, perhaps its an oversight.

Can someone look at the passenger side pipe at the air box connection. It appears to me that the replacement they sent me is too long? The driver side fit OK.

Are you absolutely sure it’s been installed properly (proper orientation) and seated correctly how it’s supposed to fit? If so, trim it down to fit. There shouldn’t be any reinforcement in the end sections that are made to be able to be trimmed it absolutely necessary. Their QC can’t be this bad, I almost feel like some parts just aren’t being installed right if it doesn’t seem right even though this install isn’t that difficult.

Affirmative…

Rechecked seating on the turbo inlet and airbox. I contacted them … got a reply “They are all that length”. I told them that if all of them are like that, than they are all too long. Even when compared go stock its longer. I’m going to jot this down as setting $400 on fire. When it gets warmer ill take it off and trim it. The ends (without the impregnated wire) are too long on both ends.

While they should be exact length to fit properly, better too long than too short. Nothing a new razor blade can’t fix and no one will notice if you do a nice clean cut. Just take your time with it. If you need to, you can use a hose clamp as an edge guide so it’s a nice clean cut.

Excellent suggestion! Will absolutely do this. I just might 3D print an insert and put the clamp on top to ensure that the cut is perfect.

That’s funny you said that, I just came back to say that maybe find something close in the same size to fit those hose around it so that you’ve got a hard surface on the inside to cut against. Looks like you’re way ahead of me on that one. Lol

I just installed these yesterday. They are considerably larger in diameter from the stock plastic tubing. This just replaces that tubing. Comes with its own hardware so that was nice, feels like its quality billet aluminum for the ends that go onto the turbo inlet.

I have not measured IATs just yet, will do so soon.

This is paired with K&N drop in filters. There are no whooshing sounds like you would get with after market intakes that have cone filters (in bay or front mount).

I am ok with that.
Was your passenger side pipe the correct lenght right out of the box? I tried installing mine to fit like yours, like OEM, but that doesnt seem possible without it flexing a lot and really pushing on the driver side pipe.

Yea it was the perfect length. I have some pics somewhere I took against the stock pipe to see how they match up. I will try to find them and post them.

Thanks man! Mine were not same length. Nothing that a blade cant fix, but seems like they got a bit sloppy.

Perhaps… all I can say is I contacted them, asked for an advanced replacement so that I wouldnt be left without nothing (on the heels of them sending me the wrong thing 1st time around and them taking a 2 week holiday break…because why not I guess) and their “customer service” refused. I even offered to send back the wrong pipe which they didnt want. It left a not so good taste for me because I realized that internally to them these pipes arent worth shit (or worth less than a prepaid shipping label).

However… thus far the BMC filters and these pipes have been a great OEM+ type upgrade. Cant way for the Alcantara boot and carbon fiber M shifter to come in.

So wait, they refused to correct the problem? wow.

That’s correct. With the inital order when they sent me the wrong pipe, it was relatively easy to setup a replacement. My only issue is they went on a two week break. In my eyes, if a vendor screws up, they need to go send someone to put the damn thing in a box and ship it. 30 mins of trouble. But their customer support has half a brain, talking to “it” (dont know if man or woman) was leas than fruitful. I said “your pipe is too long” and it goes “they are all like that”. I said “then they are all too long”. The biggest thing to consider was getting via a re-distributor. They tried helping but VTT are dicks. That whole outfit can be described as kids who saw Fast and Furious as teenages and grew up and said “that’s the life i want” and so they opened a machine shop to rebuild turbos and make related goods. Mind you no one in Fast and Furious took constructive criticism well, neither do these people. Look at their reviews online. Any criticism and their reply jumps down the customers throat. Not cool. This is a one and done for me. I would splurge on the Mishimoto intake, but needing to change the turbo inlet is more than I wanna do at this point.

It was about time a thread about VTT went the way they all eventually do.

Sucks you're having issues with them, but you're not alone. It's not an exaggeration when I say I have not heard a single person or shop who has dealt with them in any way speak about them positively. Not one. It's beyond me how they're still operating.

Damn man, that's unfortunate. Sorry to hear that.
