Quick question to the experts, since I know very little about tires…

My brand new wheels on my M3 Comp were stolen a few months ago. I had Pirelli P Zeros. Insurance covered it, and now when I picked up the new wheels they have Michelin Sport Pilot tires.

So, have I been downgraded/upgraded or are they similar? I have no idea what’s more expensive, let a alone quality etc.

Would appreciate your help, thanks.

That’s an upgrade. You got the OEM star tires. I’ve had both and the pirellis aren’t quite as good as the Michelins, which handle rain and dry really well and are better at the limit… although possibly worse in colder conditions (40 degrees F). The star tire is better than the standard ps4s (as denoted by that little black star to the right of the S) because the tread uses different composites that increase grip and feedback while maintaining durability. There are some good YouTube videos on the differences.

Thanks! I really appreciate it 🙏 Interesting to know a little more about them. No need to complain to the dealership then.. 40 degrees F is no problem btw, I have winter tires that time of year.
