Chiming in as example -- dual res removal and added the X with secondary left in-tact. I've cruised this way for roughly 2,000 mi and I'm very close to going and pulling the secondary cat as well for some added volume.

The only thing holding me back is that I truly do like the current set up. Admittedly greedy, I just need ~10% more volume! I'm worried that I will be upset with myself if it goes wrong, and something about removing anything with the term "cat" tied to it worries me for anything powertrain warranty terms.

Case in short:
The dual res with X, and secondary cat LEFT IN-TACT is far from over the top.
This will give you a decent amount of added volume (a subjective ~25 increase in my mind when dialed up) but in my opinion is best at allowing the engine to show it's true audible character on decel, and start up simply.

** Keep in mind- if you need it quiet you ECO mode & hit that nifty exhaust button on your console which does an oddly weird job.
Do you by anychance have a picture of your setup?

Would it be acceptable to just order this from AA and be done with it?

No.

Get a single midpipe.

All the "x pipe" stuff sounds like trash on startup
Read 29 pages and settled on doing both resonators with X-pipe just to hit OPs comment shitting on it because of start up sound 😂
My experience with exhausts starting for the OG N63 engine throughout 5 cars with modified exhausts till now has been: I don't need to spend thousands to get the right sound, and always try to follow OEM design flow.

For me if an X pipe exists in the second resonators (closer to the muffler) then I'll probably put one there regardless which route I go and I will leave the valves as is to maintain proper pulse mix and back pressure on cold start (a bmw master technician once told me valves closed at cold start exist to play a role in how quick warm up is on cold start)

Yeah I wish I knew what caused that sound, I'd have certainly just left it with the original setup.

But man was it embarrassing and I can't stress enough how much cooler the single sounds.

I am looking to hear what a stock DP, AA Resonated x pipe and stock exhaust sounds like. I have found videos, like from XPH on YT (Thank you) for the non-resonated setup but nothing with the 100CEL cats.

I don't have a video of this setup, but it will be a minimal upgrade over the stock sound.

The catted midpipe is meant to be used with catless downpipes or aggressive axle backs to keep the sound bearable. I would not use it with a stock setup; the straight x-pipe or single midpipe is the better option.

The only thing that bothers me, at least from the videos I have seen, is the slight crack or rasp at high RPM/revs. Is this a thing in person? I don't want it sounding like a broken civic... Maybe its just not having heard it in person. The AA X pipe seems the same as PSI? Sound wise then, should be comparable. Any drone with this setup, AA or PSI?

I don't have a broken civic sound, also no drone but if this is a concern, the single midpipe is the best option

The x pipe with cats and single non resonated have the same sound? That's hard to believe but I'm no exhaust expert

Maybe the non res versions of both may sound the same.

I'm patiently waiting for AWE to drop its exhaust offering. Depending on how that is, I may just do AWE or pull trigger on AA catted x pipe. Waiting for Mike at XPH to post news, patiently, any day now.

I'll let you know as soon as we have an update.

I'll probably install the exhaust and post a few clips and my feedback before its release, so you decide if it's a good fit for you.

What is the stock exhaust made of?

First resonator/ secondary cat. delete with stainless steel pipe wouldn't be a welding issue?

If anyone has done x pipe- prefab or please specify the sizes used. Smaller crossover size?
