My experience with exhausts starting for the OG N63 engine throughout 5 cars with modified exhausts till now has been: I don't need to spend thousands to get the right sound, and always try to follow OEM design flow. For me if an X pipe exists in the second resonators (closer to the muffler) then I'll probably put one there regardless which route I go and I will leave the valves as is to maintain proper pulse mix and back pressure on cold start (a bmw master technician once told me valves closed at cold start exist to play a role in how quick warm up is on cold start)

I am looking to hear what a stock DP, AA Resonated x pipe and stock exhaust sounds like. I have found videos, like from XPH on YT (Thank you) for the non-resonated setup but nothing with the 100CEL cats.

The catted midpipe is meant to be used with catless downpipes or aggressive axle backs to keep the sound bearable. I would not use it with a stock setup; the straight x-pipe or single midpipe is the better option.

I'll probably install the exhaust and post a few clips and my feedback before its release, so you decide if it's a good fit for you.

What is the stock exhaust made of?
First resonator/ secondary cat. delete with stainless steel pipe wouldn't be a welding issue? If anyone has done x pipe- prefab or please specify the sizes used. Smaller crossover size? |
