Yes, I think so. More power from the OEM software, then the increase from JB4.

yes, it should actually get you some additional fueling for the jb4 to work with.

Very good post. My question is: with an additional control unit like RaceChip, would any improvement be expected? The maps are already preconfigured, so I’m not sure if there would be any limitation due to turbo pressure or something similar. Thanks!"

im not completely sure if racechip is using additive or absolute boost targets for their maps, or if they are using both. If it is additive, then the racechip is going to add additional boost on top of what you have already added with the map, and there will be additional performance increase. if the maps are absolute then where will likely not be as significant of a change, but you will still get more fueling from the DME as the CS tune will be using higher load targets. Either way i think it will be a positive.

Thanks, chris3g. Were you able to see the differences between the base map 510 and 530? Turbo pressure and ignition

Am I correct in assuming that any previous coding I have done with another coder would be erased during this coding process? I’ve already paid another coder for anti-dazzle, ASD delete, CS trans, rear fog, and additional coding for my euro style tails.

Racechip has it for the 503, 523, and 540hp S58 OEM engine tunes.

Had all previous coding done with Chris and it was a fantastic experience, I might have to pull the trigger on this and share with the group for another touch point.

Would be a hold over until unlock and Bend, but I'll get Dragy data before and after if so.

But will those 3 engines have the same configuration in RaceChip? The problem is that I already have the 510 software… although I think they allowed a free update or something like that…

i sent mail to racechip..

Curious to know g80/82 CX (530ps) feedback. The g87 cs map says improved throttle mapping. Should be felt immediately if that’s the case.

Did it this morning and spent today driving around town, I'm pleased with it. Definitely a noticeable bump in power, and where it comes on. I'll be interested to see what more Chris talks about it in terms of what part of the cal rom section it touches. I've been eyeing either a racechip or jb4, while I figure out if I really want to get a unlock and this definitely pushes the car in the direction I want.

It feels like boost comes on quicker in the lower gears, I have an infinity intake and you can hear it much sooner in the lower gears.

When you're on the highway, 3rd pulls are pretty noticeable as well puts you in the seat- it's almost like the car is more responsive, but that might just be in my head.

The engine maps on the CSL and CS models are very similar in ideology to the CS/CSL coding of the chassis controls and transmission. It’s not going to be crazy gains, but it will turn up the response wick from lazy to urgent. Drivability and eagerness is where your gains will be… aka agility and quickness. It’s a response upgrade and a cheap/easy one at that, all with BMW reliability since the engines are all the same.
