I love the final result, excellent product MAD definitely recommend it
Glad you like it.

Our install should be fairly similar to other oil cooler guard/ skid plates but compared to some of the oil cooler guard only kits out there yeah we have a few more screws due to the size and thickness of of the plate. The extra protection is worth it imo.

Agreed, I was following a video with the Meyer Fab and yours is a little more in depth but I agree, it looks more protective and robust

They are two different products in reality. The turner kit takes it even further with their complete skid protection.

I noticed this skid plate is stainless steel, compared to a lot of the other options being aluminum. What’s the weight on the MAD Skid Plate?

I sent him this video since it’s the closest comparison to ours. The only difference is that we use two metal spacers and bolts, whereas their design integrates the spacer into the setup with "two squares cutouts."

I got my MAD skid plate today and examined it. I don’t have my G80 yet but this will be first thing to be installed along with other goodies. I did notice they added a slit for the rubber dam. Info@mad-us.com Can you verify that this was the intent and it’s the new design compared to the previous skid plates released?

Dang if this is true, I would have ordered the MAD one. Mainly went with Meyer Fab instead since I noticed the MAD didn’t have the rubber dam

I was debating between MAD, Mishimoto, and Meyer Fab. Ultimately, decided with MAD because of the price and design. I would have still rocked it with the original design but now that it has the dam feature, it’s well worth it. The Meyer is just way over priced for what it is honestly.

100% agree if MAD did have the new design with the dam. I would have bought the MAD piece in a heartbeat. Without the dam, I’m not confident there’s enough negative pressure. Maybe not a big deal regardless though since no one has reported overheating but I figured since BMW went out of their way to put a dam, I would want a dam in aftermarket too.

Hey everyone,

As you now know, we’ve now added an air dam to our skid plate. To clarify, I still believe the air dam isn’t necessary once our skid plate is installed. However, we decided to include it purely in response to customer requests. Since there’s absolutely no downside to having it, we wanted to meet your preferences.

Hopefully, this update bridges the gap for those of you who liked our skid plate for its pricing but looked elsewhere because of this feature. We appreciate your feedback and are always here to improve!

Nice! I see it's currently on the website but still is pictured and described as the original release. If I order today, will I get the latest model with the air dam feature?

Maybe a dumb question but these spacers go on these squares?

No I was referring to the mishimoto squares . They go to the left and right of the round cutout in the back behind the logo.
