Great news OP! Just lost my pops to Stg 4 Pancreatic/Liver. He got 80 years and is in a much better place.
So glad you’ve been given a lot more time!

Condolences on your loss; I imagine that was a tough journey for your pops. I lost my Dad to cancer when he was 77 (which is my current age). That was almost 24 years ago, and I still miss him every day.

I think that we should treasure every moment with our loved ones, particularly our parents and our children.

I second this. My condolences on your losses both i lost my mother at 66 from long term parkinson’s my stepfather at 72 cancer and stepmother at 69 cancer. I thank god everyday I still have my father who is 80 and spend lots of time with him and we play our favorite game Crokinole canadians here will know the game. He still volunteers his time giving people rides to doctors appointments that can’t drive or don’t have cars. He still drives his 2008 Subaru wrx wagon he bought new and will never sell it. He will not have an automatic.

You hit the nail on the head! My mother just beat stage 3 breast cancer. There is always hope, just have to keep fighting and have a positive mindset.

2) I have not yet listed my 2022 M3 for sale but have "ordered" an M440i Gran Coupe from my local dealer. They are searching for an allocation so it's not really an order yet. It will be bittersweet to give up my 4th M3, but I'm convinced it's best for me.

If anybody is looking for a near-immaculate low-mileage '22 M3 6-speed with sunroof, it will be likely be available in November or so.
Wonderful news my friend!

Great news regarding your health!

I went from a G80 manual to an M340i. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Be sure you get the adaptive suspension. My M340i did not have adaptive and was a much harsher ride than the M3. The run flats could have also contributed to that though.

Thanks! I did indeed spec adaptive suspension for my M440i build. I do not yet have an allocation and if there is an undue delay in getting one, plan to change up the order to an M340i if that will help get me a car.

Just to close out this story, I had my appointment with a pulmonary physician today and he confirmed that the tumor appears to be benign. He wants me to follow up with another CAT scan in a few months and probably yet another a year after that. Assuming no growth in the tumor, I'll be good to go.

That's great news Llarry!

In regards to your earlier question, for me personally, I like the wheels, I am not in the black wheel camp, but certainly it will affect your resale value because the OE wheels are so gorgeous, even in black.

The sunroof is going to hurt you (AMHIK) if you try to sell it yourself, but most dealers don't really care and you'll likely do fine trading it. I ended up selling mine to a dealer (M4 6-spd w/sunroof) because no enthusiast wanted it. They sold it a few months later for less than they paid me for it.

If you are open to options, look at the Cadillac Blackwings. Awesome cars. I never thought I'd like something more than my Bimmer, but my CT5-V is just incredible.

I'm wavering on the decision to get rid of the M3.

2022 M3: Full Merino leather, older instrument panel and switches (), great color combo in my eyes, less than beautiful front end (yeah, I still have not fully embraced it.)

2025 M440i: Curved display (), Sensatec interior only in desired color, facelifted front end not as attractive to me as pre-facelift.

As far as 473 horses being too many, just don't put your foot down as far...

Great that heath things are in a better place!

Ya, why get rid of the car, unless you just want a different car. If so, why get something so similar like a 440.

This thread was a twofer: (1) potential cancer diagnosis, which turned out to be benign. , and
(2) Getting rid of G80 M3, which I have decided against.

So, having created all this drama.... never mind!

I do greatly appreciate all the encouragement and support from my fellow G8X owners throughout this process.

With a bit of luck, I will continue to row my own in my 6-speed M3 until I'm 80 years old (or more.)

Update on the "leaving the fold" part: I decided that I just can't do a 4 series Gran Coupe for two reasons: Curved display/latest iDrive and want red leather but only Sensatec is available for MY2025.

Then I decided to stick with the G80.

Then my wife and I decided to sell our current place (house on 15 acres in the country) and move to town. We think we will come out of that deal with pockets bulging with cash.

For a car guy, pockets bulging with cash can only mean one thing: Spend money on cars! LOL!

So now I've resurrected the idea of selling my G80 6-speed but will replace it with a BMW model that does not have the curved display/latest iDrive and is available with red leather. That answer? The G16 M850ix Gran Coupe! 920 pounds heavier than an M3. A foot longer. Roomier. Much more expensive than anything I've ever purchased from BMW before. 523 hp V-8! Almost the antithesis of an RWD M3 6-speed. A German Lincoln-like Luxo-barge?

I hope this works...
