It's cool we can grab all the coding from the CS/CSL models but they still do have different hardware (shocks, springs, sway bars) so any gains could be negligible or even not be optimized.

Too early to comment on the steering, havent had a chance to test it out yet. Huge difference in the look without the amber corners clashing with the yellow drls 😀 I’m in north jersey ramsey/mahwah area.

That’s part of the reason I only did the steering (that and I already have xhp tcu), I’m going to be installing Millway monoballs and am hoping between that and the software to replicate the more precise steering feel of the CS. If anything doesn’t work out with that it’s easy to flash back.

Are you able to code the transmission TCU using protools? All of the demos I saw show the rear diff/steering/traction settings.
Also, has anyone tried coding the MDM settings to M3CS see if it adds the 10 step traction capability/Race mode? My 50J didn't offer the option to add it, and i'd love if i could enable it using protools

I figured that was the case, but i was being hopeful. I'm on the fence about xHP and was hoping to clone the CS trans without going that route.
I'll be sending you a PM, thanks!

Pulled the trigger on the full CS tune plus anti-dazzle through kubax86 and my initial impressions are wonderful!
Being honest I wasn’t sure there would be a drastically obvious difference between the standard trans tune vs the CS but there is. Right off the bat the shifts in S3 are harder, 30% at least. Not enough to unsettle the car but you can feel a kick forward every time you shift. You can definitely notice something spicier with this transmission tune. My biggest complaint with the stock tune was the delay during WOT shifting close to redline. I must have done at least 30 redline shifts at wot with only one (2-3 shift) that had the slightest cut in accelerating. It should be noted that this shift did bleed into redline so that could be part of the reason why there was a bit of a cut in acceleration. As for shift speed, upshifts are faster and crisper (dct like). Downshifts are improved but not as pronounced. Driving in D3 the trans drops gears faster and holds gears longer with perfect shifts at redline. I’ve never experienced the xhp tune so I can’t compare. I’m sure if you are chasing PR’s the xhp will be the best option. However, I feel the CS tune is the closest thing to the sweet spot for those looking for a dct like experience without the jarring upshifts or excess wear and tear. Again these are my initial impressions and I will check in after a week or so if anything changes. |

Also curious if the line pressure or anything else has been bumped. Thanks for your impressions! |

They may have increased line pressure but I feel more confident as it’s to a degree BMW is comfortable with for warranty purposes. Oh and I forgot to mention my car has a JB4 running map 2 with HFC, drop in filters and the MPE exhaust. In your case, based on the relatively low cost, it maybe worth giving it a try. Even if you prefer the xhp tune and switch back you still get the CS steering and MDM calibration. |
