Going a bit off topic but what do you like better with the catalyst? Is it the coaching?

I've enjoyed the experience of using it overall:
  • Compared to a more comprehensive setup involving multiple cables, components, and ports, the Catalyst is very easy and quick to setup.
  • My friends also have Catalysts, and it lets you easily compare lap telemetry which is pretty cool.
  • The UI is sleek and easy to use.
  • There are leaderboards where you can see other people's lap times.
  • You can easily watch your laps and make videos of them with overlays, no manual time-syncing of any data required.
  • It tells you your optimal lap time based on your own demonstrated driving.
  • There's also the coaching like you mentioned, although I feel like the usefulness of this varies.

All in all, I think it's the best available package for someone who wants more than a smartphone, but doesn't care to analyze car telemetry data (steering angle, pedal application, etc.) through the OBD port. The price and inability to integrate with OBD are the two main things holding it back imo.

Thanks. I've been considering one to use with students as well as my own driving. I do like that it is all in one and easy to use. Agree on price and lack of obd support but then again ease of use trumps extensibility for this kind of stuff imo.

FWIW I had plenty of 1.2g+ stops ar Buttonwillow the past weekend with cars in front and had 0 experiences with the frontal collision warning and window coming up/sear going forward..... Just a data point.

happen every lap for me. I just drive with the window close now.
turn the AC max, enjoy my music while doing the lap. it's quiet and fun.

2023 Xdrive M3 - No active cruise, have M Drivers Package

Doing some intentional drifting this past weekend. Had windows roll up and seat move forward along with tightening of seatbelt.
Once in driver seat and once in passenger.

Had track mode on. Full DSC off. Had car in 2WD mode.

Also will add that the car during the last run went into engine overheat alarm. Haha.

My G82 has the same configuration as your. I have done 4 track days this years and my car windows never rollup.

Lucky you All the racing tracks I went to will not allow cars with windows rollup during the lap run.

Just been to my second track day.
G83 2023 BMW M4 Convertible. No track pack, no M driver pack.
Things I tried:
- Put collision system on late or All Off (pressing the button for a few seconds): doesn't work. Still getting collision mitigation system triggering multiple times;
- Removed the fuses: avoided the windows rolling up. So you get only the belts tigthening;
- Easing on the brakes. Works, but that caused the brakes to overheat as you end up braking earlier and longer. No to mention your lap times will be affected, as this is definitely not a good technique. I was using cobalt brake pads and Motul RBF 600. I didn't have brake fade in my previous track day with all stock parts, but I wasn't also trying to smoothen brake pedal application.
- MDM mode on (4WD Sport): no triggering of the collision mitigating system. All the previous tests I had DSC ON. After the brake failure, an experienced racer, tracking his BMW M4 (prev gen), and my instructor in the previous track day, helped me reset the car brake system with Bimmerlink. We saw a bunch of DSC related errors and he suggested I used MDM to reduce the frequency of brake interventions that could be overheating the brakes. This ended up "fixing" the anti collision annoyance. I did another test with DSC On in the next session and the anti collision was back. So it becomes clear the MDM is the reason for change.

To the people having this issue, do you have Driving Assistance Package with the sensor up front?

No, it's not package related. I've only had it happen under very hard braking and on bumpy corners. Hasn't happened with very hard or full braking and a smooth track.

Got it.

I didn't get that package on my build so I thought besides the cooling gains, it would prevent this too

Update: Tracked my M3 CS this weekend (so it has track pack and M-driver). I had zero interventions of the Anti-Collision system, unlike my wife's G83 M4 Comp Convertible (no track pack, no M-Driver).

With the CS, in my second session, I even forgot to enable Track Mode, and still no triggering of the anti-collision system.

I get this almost every autocross lap. Super annoying. It’s definitely related to how hard you brake. When I slam the brakes hard they roll up. If I ease into it they don’t.

Everything off. M mode sport + DSc off m mode track.

What is the solution do we know yet?

Did not have this issue a single time. I over-brake like a mofo on all of my track cars.

Ran the car in Track mode even with DSC on.
