It has grown on me as many others and I still haven't seen it in person. Based on the reviews I have read/watched the car drives amazing. Best M3 they have made as far as that goes. And this is most likely the last non hybrid/full electric one. Can't see myself passing on it, will most likely be my last full gas guzzler. Times are changing and nothing we can do about it...

my last non turbo was a 09 C63 and that 6.3L was fun as hell to hear BUT I don't miss the 11 mpg I averaged and I wasn't driving it that hard (just sat in lots of traffic at the time). Thing was out of control with traction and I enjoy driving my X3M more even though it's a I6 turbo. Despite the press cars noted mpg during their "spirited drives" I am getting 17mpg in my x3m as a DD, M3 at 10% less weight and lower drag has to be better.

The one car I do miss and if the prices didn't get out of control I would buy it back was my 2006 M Coupe. Last manual I owned which I had to sell when my son was born as a 2 seat roadster and a wife who tries once and gives up on learning stick doesn't work well together. bought it for $38,000 used, sold for $26,500 (in winter when economy was shit in 2000), now same damn car sells for $40,000 or more depending on mileage.

So just remember as reviewers are saying, what is the M3s real competition now? Mercedes already moved on to hybrid and hasn't had a stick in over a decade, Audi same with transmission and they are always underpowered and overpriced... people keep mentioning Porsche but seriously that's not competition for people looking for a smaller 2-4 door 4 seater. 911 isn't practical. Probably only real completion is internal with M2.
Very well stated & I fully agree. I have an X3 M too & have gotten 26 MPG (7 MPG more) than the quote 19 HWY on the sticker. This S58 motor is a well constructed monster & these cars are capable of much more than many people realize and/or give them credit for. The G80 is a sick car anyway you look at it...

Congrats on the new pick up! Great choice in cars. I absolutely love the TR. Been contemplating doing TR on Fiona red 6mt myself. None of my local dealers have one yet so I can compare to my speed yellow F80. Hard to give it up for now.

What am I missing here?
The equivalent used M3/4 would cost something like 50k. You can't just compare apple to oranges. I think M3/4 is not a steal at this price but it is pretty competitive in the price range IMO. At least I wouldn't consider RS5 and C63 over it.

Toronto red looks superb! Especially on something like a GT4.

On the M3 though ... it just shows off everything that is wrong with the G80 design ... I think the M3 G80 looks worst in this colour.

US I can't tell, I saw somewhere it will be available starting from July.
For now it is an individual colour (was thinking about it) not much more expensive than tanzanite blue here in Switzerland.

I will check if I will find the post and post it here !

*edit*

found, it's mentioned on the carwow review so at least UK gets it:

Yea idk where people come up with this porsche pricing stuff...I was looking at used 718 cayman s's not too long ago and I'm not sure one of those optioned similarly would be much cheaper than the G8x. 911 gts starting price has to be 50k higher than the cayman s easily. Someone in another thread was talking up a macan turbo is a performance rival to an m2 which is not only untrue but the macan turbo is considerably more expensive. Maybe they just look at the starting price and calculate how much a used version of that would cost but my goodness that porsche option sheet is devastating even to get the equipment that's standard in a lot of competitors...nobody's giving you all that for free even in a used car

To me, pictures 3 and 4 show why I prefer the traditional grills. The M5 front end looks mean and snarling; the M3 front end looks fat and bulbous. But...different strokes for different folks and there are lots of car choices out there.

The issue was never about "total" grille area. It's the shape and how they combine the upper and lower areas that make it ugly.

You are missing 4 doors and a trunk.

So I just got back from the dealer where they had a G82 in the showroom.

An older gentleman came in and test drove it because he said his M5 in comfort mode was more jarring than his Audi RS 4/5/6 whatever it was and wanted to see if the M4 was softer. Another potential M5 owner to M4 buyer as well. Interesting.

What you are missing is simply one thing. A test drive. The car is incredible. Nothing like a 911, but its own special thing in it's own special way.

Actually if you have the finances I do not recommend that you test drive this car. Otherwise you will buy it.

I recently got a TRX to replace the Raptor. The dealer offered fair money for it so I traded.

How does the power feel compared to the M5? Toronto red is nice has a slight orange hue in the sun.

But, I thought the comp had those cabon inserts in the lower grilles? Or was tat just the cars with the carbon package?
I wish you all the luck in the world. I'm sure it's a sweet ride and I LOVE the red. But I'd pick the M5 for sure.

I still hate that grille with a passion and believe it is a design mistake that BMW will some day regret.

Sweet! So how's that TRX? Guess if you really don't like the sound of the M3 the TRX will surely make up for it! I also see why you got TR... you love RED!
