thebmw appears to be a rational and intellectually sound person to me (a boomer). A person of culture and good taste.
The new design language from BMW is as foul as a meth head’s breath. I apologize to meth heads everywhere for comparing them to those responsible for BMWs new design language. They have enough issues already. I’ve owned BMWs since 1994. Only exceptions were the two tow vehicles I had for my race trailer.

Folks, my sincere apologies to beavers. I was mistaken when I compared them to the new 4 and iX. Beavers do, in fact, look better than the 4 and iX both before, during, and after copulation. So beavers, you have my respect and admiration.
What I should have compared the new 4 and iX to are rabbits. Yes rabbits, those seemingly cute and cuddly little fur balls. Well, they are not so cute when they are enjoying themselves. Once you see this comparison, you can never un-see it. Hey, don't blame me, I didn't design the masterpiece new 4 or iX or the rabbit's orgasmic face. |

Well thank you kind sir! I would have to objectively agree with your statements and assessments . But I do believe I am a GenXer...old school boomer taste with new school millennial progressiveness. BTW, I just made up that description of a GenXer. What do you think?

As soon as someone says "you can't please everyone" it means everyone is telling them their recent creation is a pile of shit.
Where's that comment when they get mass rave reviews? |

I hate Apple products over everything but could never imagine to complain on a Apple forum how much I hate it? Plenty of other cars you can buy, for my part I can't wait to get the G80... And I own 3 E38... funny they mentioned the 7 Series in the interview... |

I've grown to like/accept it out of force since there is no other viable alternative. Hopefully all goes well in person.

So they focus all their marketing research on social media.
lol I guess that makes sense given what we've seen. I will say though that the G80 has grown on me a lot. The grille is still totally stupid but I can tolerate it now. |

BMW to continue with current design direction despite criticism
I get that BMW wants to stand out. But Aston Martin stands out. Ferrari stands out. The BMW i8 stands out. Even the M8 stands out in my opinion. But they stand out without making many of the brand's most loyal customers hate the car. I really don't see how this position is defensible. You can make an awesome looking car that people drool over without generating vitriol in your customer base.
And I'm not a grill hater. I don't love it either. I just think it could look a lot better and it's really hard to pay $80K for a car that the world is making fun of. |

If you love it, that is great, be excited and enjoy. I am extremely happy about the manual, but I really struggle with the front grille and the extreme business and sharp lines of the hood. I am willing to order it in a dark color and try to like it, but I just can not get used to the look. I do not want to seem overly negative, but the G20, M2cs, M5cs....those cars look great to me. Their wider more modern looking grilles seem to have the exact look that scream modern BMW aesthetics to me. |

If I was an investor in BMW I'd be pulling my money out ASAP, Dukec is poison to BMW & his direction or lack of is disturbing to say the least, not to mention his apparently shitty attitude.
20% approval & he considers that a success what an absolute tosser.

Of course he's going to defend his position, he's an arrogant prick with his head up his arse.
The powers that be at BMW must be closely watching what this clown does next and he's got to be close to getting his severance cheque. Sure am glad it's not my companies money he's playing with, because he has taste in his arse & doesn't seem to give a shit what anyone else thinks.

I like the new the design but the statement: “You can see that on something as polarising like the kidneys on the 4 Series, 20 per cent of people are liking it. That fits to the type of customers we are targeting."
is just plain stupid. How in the world can this be interpreted as a postivie statement? How many drugs does this guy take? tbh he looks pretty arrogant...don't like him. |

I think they are going to realize quickly that ugly does not sell. One of the largest dealers in the area - has 20 m440 s seating on the lot for a while . Other dealers tell me they can not move 4 series. I know its an Suv market now but m340 and m550 seem to be doing great. That LCI can not come quick enough

I think the new 4 series not selling is an indicative of the new design reception. In my area I think a lot of 4 series sales are from ppl interested in owning a M4 but either don't want to spend as much or can't justify the price premium for there usage. I often see them equipped with M performance parts to have them look the closest to a real M series.
M340i and M440i M Performance Edition was a great success around here. I think differentiating the M series cars too much from the regular series was a mistake. A lot of M buyers love that a lot of ppl can't tell the difference between the regular 40k model and the 80k track capable model. Reminds me of what everyone is telling me about the civic type R, I'd love to drive and own one but would not want to be seen in it. It's a shame because they would sell more if it would be stealthier.

It's great that you're a BMW enthusiast who is excited about the new car, really! . But there are many other BMW enthusiasts/potential customers who aren't and are genuinely pissed off at what this guy did to one of BMW's flagship sports cars. I'm not loyal to BMW myself, but I would have gladly been in line for my second M3 if it didn't look like this. Regarding your comment about buying something else - I suppose that's true, but many people including me wanted the new M3/4 to be their next car, and the design or something else is stopping them from doing that. I can see how a brand loyalist would be mad about it rather than someone like me who jumps around between brands. At the end of the day though, Dukec will be getting heat until the sales numbers are in for the next few years. Then he will either be praised or be looking for a new job soon.

I've only owned 3 bmws, some of you have far more experience but I was shocked and dismayed at the new direction. I wanted a G80 but after I saw it I can't get on board. I don't understand the 20% comment. Does he think only 20% of the people not liking it are buyers?
