What if you get slightly different sidewall aspect ratios? If so, the speedometer error might be insignificant, or many cars can be coded to calibrate their speedometers to different tire sizes.

Just don't deviate from the overall diameter too much. +1" max

I'm ordered a set of 20" bcforged all around with 295 tires in the back. I'm keeping overall diameter within 0.5"

Garage List
I'm glad I found this thread, I feel much better about the base wheels. They actually look good, the front tire sidewall profile is a bit tall, but otherwise very nice setup.

Thinking the ride quality with the 18/19 is much better than the 19/20

Would love more feedback, especially in regards on handling/ comfort, would be even better from anyone who experienced the car with the 18/19 and 19/20.

I currently have an order for an m3 comp and recently drove the f80 with 19/20 for a few days and the ride was quite harsh. Would much prefer the 18/19 but that's only an option for the non comp and I'd have to learn how to drive a 6 speed then

I have both setups for my car. The 824m 18/19 combo with Yokohama v107s , and a set of 826m 19/20 with Michelin ps4s. Both sets are OEM BMW and both sets have about 1000 miles on them. Both sets measure exactly 7/32 and evenly across.

The 18/19 combo is a phenomenal setup. I've never actually ran yoko v107s, but I'm sold on the tire. The ride is supple, steering feel is good, and not twitchy. The setup is very good. I had no complaints.

With the 19/20 combo, I noticed immediately the car was a little more twitchy and wants to wander. The car is definitely a little stiffer, but not a huge difference. Driving at a quick pace through the mountains, I think the 18/19 setup felt better and more confidence inspiring.

I'd like to add that I'm super particular about tires, road feel and suspension - I have spent years road racing motorcycles and have done car trackdays as well.

thank you for your take on this, especially from someone who ran both the 18/19 and 19/20.

I had a feeling the 18/19 would actually handle better and agree the 19/20 can feel a little bit lose and twitchy. surprised BMW didn't offer a 19/20 combo for the competition; may have chosen the 18/19 and even more likely would have since it would've been a bit cheaper.

I do have the tire/wheel protection for my current setup, so think I am stuck with the 19/20 combo for now.

perhaps a suspension upgrade is in order to inspire some more confidence in the handling (not that it isn't great now), warming up the tires does help a lot though

Would anyone here with the 824M be able to measure the diameter of the barrel where it's clearance is tightest to the front calipers? I'm interested to run some Apex 18x11 on my G8X car but would like a reference clearance check before I pull the trigger on the purchase.

It should work. Brake clearance might be an issue but apex sells an 18 inch square fitment so it's probably fine. Also, you'd be changing the relative rolling diameter between front and rear which could confuse your traction control.

Very good info, thank you for posting it. How do the Yokohamas compare to the Michelins in the rain?
