CH reviewing the car like Friedrich's in the back seat pointing a gun at him....I'm just not convinced..

Oooo big one from Chris Harris - "like a powerful M340i" ... how disappointing. Definitely lost its raw and angry personality

CH and Throttle House just nailed the truth. As I was expecting, the gearbox was the biggest disappointment if you don't count the looks, which are subjective.
This G80 with a slightly more attractive front design and newest DCT technology would have been a 10/10 car. A blast and I probably would have bought it. |

...gets immensely excited when he talks about the steering...says it's much more competent than the car it's replacing. Sounds like a pretty honest evaluation of the pros/cons to me and a very positive review. I guess people will interpret it the way they want to fit their opinions though on both sides lol. Probably depends on what you're going to do with the car as well...the zf fits what I'm going to use it for better so from my point of view that review would be immensely positive when it might not to others

Well been through a bunch of these and let me say this: you future G8X owners will probably love your car .
As expected, it is a faster, more capable, more refined, but more muted F8X (my expectations solely driven by my experience in late F and G chassis M/Non-M cars in relation to my own F8X). I think that's a very fair assessment and generally more people will enjoy G8X because of it. The common pros and cons I've noticed: Pros: Fast, very fast (specifically comp models) Great mechanical grip Much more refined and livable ZF8 is noticeably better in normal driving contexts Cons: ZF8 is noticeably worse than DCT in performance/spirited driving contexts Less raw/sharp/"darty"/angry experience than F8X Design is a bit more confused Toss-ups/no-consensus: Sound Weight/Perception of Weight Steering is good but still "dead" - not sure if there is unity on this one across the reviews I watched Worthy successor? Based on these reviews I'll say so, I'll keep my final judgment for when I can drive the thing.

Pretty mixed review from him but I definitely appreciate his feedback. Sucks they don't get the 6MT

It will be a slaughter fest, those who has been knocking the big girl is in for a rude awakening. Steering got great praise from CH, that's the biggest compliment one can expect, BMW finally nailed it. RWD so balanced the man thought he was driving an AWD, say what.... This big girl rocks....

Agreed. It was a mixed review and I wonder if he would have enjoyed the manual car more.

Enjoyed CH's take as always. Especially his impression of the front end.
Certainly looks fun to drive. Wished he had the manual. |

I have driven a ZF8 on track no way i would buy an M3 with that.
Next 1800 kg are they nuts! My wife X1 SUV is lighter lol. M3 has become more a replacement for an M5. Nice fast daily with all the comforts. Buying M car means for me also fun on trackdays. The M3 and M4 has growon to much in weight, size and price. I take Manual M2! Let’s just hope they don’t f... up the new M2 with more weight and size. |

Y'all don't forget the upcoming MxDrive. I have no choose ordering/leasing M4 verts as one of my DD with the ZF 8AT.
Way too much to read/watch, which reviews are high yield?

I haven't watched all the reviews but Throttle House was also the best for me. Hearing that it's a bigger M2 and not a smaller M5 in the way it drives and dances is a massive relief.
Of a particular note, I've been struggling to go to a Comp/ZF8 configuration instead of the manual I ordered. I am glad I went with the manual, all 3 reviews I watched talked about how dull or characterless the new auto is. I plan on tracking this at least 5-6x a year and it looks right at home being pushed and trashed around. Long live M. |
