The top grade excluding race gas varies across the country. In North Carolina and most east coast states the premium grade is 93 octane. My local Shell station is 87/89/93.

Sunoco has 94 as its top grade at the pump in most states.

In the UK the US 94 would be sold as 98.

With turbo cars you can pull a little more performance out of the with a light tune & a mix of 93/94 & E85. A mix for 96 would equal about UK 100 which I ran if there was no race gas when I was using a tune.

Some stations here also sell 100 octane race gas at the pump equalling UK 105.

Sadly - I find this really interesting! Thanks for posting! We don’t get race gas at the pump here. You only see that at circuits, but Shell V-Power Nitro is 99 octane rated (as is Tesco Momentum). All other super-unleaded is 97 or 98. But I only put Shell V-Power Nitro in my cars (big sign on the fuel cap says BMW M recommends Shell V-power).
