They can cut it off without taking the exhaust off, but definitely to get a full weld all around the pipe it needs to be off.

Or you could get it clamped, but a weld is always a better option

Thanks for the feedback.
That's what I thought... so how do they make sure the modified pipes are the same dimension-wise? Weld jig?

Also, does anyone know the torque spec for the center brace bolts?

Not sure if this has been asked but can I remove both the resonators and the secondary cats before break in service? Want to get the noise asap as it’ll take me about 2 months to break it in

Lmao that's alot of work😂

But I'll see what I can do.

The only videos I have are:

Dual res delete with X

And dual res delete w/ X + secondary delete

I recommend everyone just get a single midpipe lol

So, I've got an MSR Intake on the way and I'm about to order a JB4 setup, but I'm totally confused as to what to do on the exhaust side of things. All this talk of mid-pipes and down pipes and H pipes and J pipes and resonators and whatnot has my head spinning.

Would it be acceptable to just order this from AA and be done with it?

No.

Get a single midpipe.

All the "x pipe" stuff sounds like trash on startup

i have the full active autowerke exhaust with the X-pipe, stock downpipes. Sounds great on startup.

It sounded like trash with a high flow catted downpipe, that's why i went back to stock downpipes.

I liked the AA setup because it still has cats, although they're high-flow cats I have a M4 Convertible and it was mentioned earlier that there can be a bad smell if you remove the secondary cats.

So get a single catted mid-pipe? Or tempt fate and try catless?

So many choices, what to do.....

Also, will it pass CA smog with secondary cat deletes? I realize it's 8 years down the road, but I'd still like to know. I sent an e-mail to PSI, but interested to hear other's input as it seems as though there is a lot of conflicting resports.

OK, I went with a set of R44 300 cell catted downpipes. Seemed like a good price compared to others (SuperSprint was over $5K).

I am planning on doing a 200 or 300 cell catted DP. Combined with an intake and JB4 for improve performance. Will also plan to add VSC2 valve control as it's a cheap mod for the sound that is fully adjustable.

Does the secondary cats become the bottle neck restricting the exhaust flow?

Anyone have done a secondary cats with a high flow carted DP combination?

If I do secondary Cats and first resonator delete combined with my other Mods does the car become too loud or too much drone.

This thread is making me confused so many combinations between the DP, Secondary cats , First and second resonator deletes and valves. X pipes and H pipes and ….

Can someone with true knowledge separate the performance and sounds benefits of each mod. And how much each mod add to the sound or performance.

Secondary cats delete ? Performance gain, and how much % sound gain

First resonator I heard 5-10% sounds increase

Seems that most believe in leaving the secondary resonator as it have a OEM X pipe built in and removing it without replacing it with an X pipe will not be a good mod to do.

Thanks

Signed Newbie 😂

High-flow cats sounded good with the X-pipe. The problem was the obnoxious cold start.

The single midpipe will sound a little better with the high-flow cats, but unless you are deleting the cold start, I recommend keeping the stock midpipe and getting an axle-back only if you are upgrading the downpipes.
