those single piston rear floaters are a disgrace to everything M is meant to represent
i can tolerate this blatant cost cutting on an RS or AMG product, but M is supposed to be all about handling and chassis current m2/3/4 gets a better brake setup |

Here's to hoping that this will have electric turbos to finally eliminate the lag. I skipped over the current gen (still have my 13 E93) because of the lag. I literally like everything better about the current gen vs my car except for the engine. Anyone know if there's a decent chance they will have a 48V system with electric turbos? I'm not holding my breath for hybrid performance for this gen (I am guessing they would introduce that first in the M5) but I am keeping my fingers crossed for electric turbos...

Yes - lag. Whether or not you want to admit it almost every turbo has some amount of lag in most scenarios - arguably with the exception of the up and coming electric turbos. Porsche, thanks to its many, many years of experience with turbos, happens to do a fantastic job minimizing lag on the 991.2 series and with many of its other cars. The current M3/M4 definitely have lag when driving on the street.
I have owned 3 E46 M3s and my current E93 M3 so I am an avid M fan. But between the lag in the currently M3/M4 and the exhaust note that is somewhat improved in the competition model but still not fantastic, the engine and exhaust just don't do it for me. I love the rest of the car compared to my E9x - interior, handling, suspension, looks, etc - all a big improvement over the E9x especially when comparing the competition package to the E9x. But yes - there is lag and exhaust is a disappointment (that can't be truly overcome by an aftermarket unit). So, back to my question - does anyone know if the upcoming M3/M4 will have a 48V system with electric turbos? Like I said in my previous post, I am certainly not banking on a hybrid system for extra power but I am hoping they will eliminate the lag with electric turbos (AMG, for example, has already started doing this - the E53, albeit it not very sporty in its drive, is the first of many upcoming applications they will use the 48V system for to eliminate lag). I expect many of the higher performance cars will have electric turbos within the next 3-5 years. The question is: Will the M3/M4 get them now or will it have to wait until the next gen? |

I think G80 will definitely be 4 wheel driven.
The only issues is how they gonna do with weight and balance problem of the car. I also believe that S58 will pair electric turbo chargers and power might be close to 500hp. BMW M will like to retain performance fun car with RWD and manual transmission for the product called M2 coupe (and 2 series coupe )

Possibly looks like the new M3 will not necessarily have active grille shutters? I'm in the camp for no active grille shutters

The M3 will have your typical twin bar grille.

Any chance the adjustable dampers will have a greater range? Meaning the car can go much softer, and possibly a little firmer?
Also I'm hoping the car will be more throttle responsive in normal driving. I want tesla level throttle response! |

Also, I highly doubt any non electric car will match the throttle response of a fast electric car. |

Everyone commenting on the hood/body...... It is not the final iteration of the car, they test/implement mechanical/chassis stuff first. Outer body panels will not be seen in M3 guise until a little later.

Looks like some seriously low profile tires. Makes for a bumpy ride.
I don't know why they don't design the 3 Series like they did with the new 8 Series. From the Race Track to the Dealership instead of the other way around. To me that would seam like you'd get a better result taking elements from the race track and putting them into production car. |

Sure its still has a floating rear caliber. This is like the damn F10 M5. Bad experience there. Its not a hood hump I see on it, its removal of camo.
The flares can or should be a bit more. Pirelli, if you don't like grip I guess. FFS. |

Heck, as it is, BMW is the only one that spends the crazy money to have the M3 use different panels. No chance they do this twice. |

uh look at the camo on the grille
the lines run high up into the hood it appears to have the same style grille as the G20 with the upper half of the grille being non-functional but still rides over the hood ugh not the G80 .. please |
