You’re the fucking man! I played with it this morning and now it’s good enough to leave alone. I’ve added the amp everyone gets to cart 5-6 times over the last 9 months I’ve had the car. Saved me a nice chunk!

Had a 2018 340i with upgraded sound (HK system) and it was much better than the M3. I do agree with the entire system being weaker in the 2022 M3. Im not sure if its acoustics of the cabin or they just went with a cheaper system or physical components in the new platform.

OP: I agree, the HK audio in mine is not good. I miss my HK in my M2C and M240ix. It's probably the only disappointing thing in the car besides the touch screen for AC/seat heating/ventilation.

Thanks! Does the amp upgrade make a significant difference in overall sound of the highs, mids, lows, and most importantly, the bass? $1,249 is pretty hefty price but for the ease of plug ‘n play, it’s worth it IMO.

I have the Bimmercode app and applied the B&W settings and turned ASD off, which made a slight difference in sound quality. Bavsound ghost subs made somewhat of an improvement also. Hopefully the Alpha One amp will seal the deal for me.

oh yes it will help your ghost subs to finally get up. In G80 we got good speakers but bad amp...so Alpha One will def help.

I’m seriously considering this. The Match amp others have mentioned required tuning and I don’t really want to do that. I’ve already installed my Bavsound subs and have the rest of the speakers awaiting install. It’s a steep price but for a plug n play system it might be worth it. The only thing I’m worried about is turning off the ASD. I actually kind of like it.

Don't get me wrong, the new G80's Harmon Kardon sounds good but just seems flat and doesn't have that deeper clean resonance on the low end. My G80 is a 2024. I read that there is a subwoofer under each of the passenger seats. Oddly I don't feel any sub under the seat, when I turn up the volume. I crawled around down in the floor with my ear up to the underside of the seat and faintly heard some bass coming from underneath. Not sure where exactly the 'subwoofer' is but it doesn't appear to be visible.

Has anyone else had these observations? Somewhat disappointed with the new system at this point.

What's your EQ? You need to drop the 200Hz more importantly the 500Hz negatively both at least 5-6 clicks

thanks for posting this. I just copied your settings and it definitely made the sound better to my ears. I have the Match amp from Bimmertech, even though is expensive I enjoy listening to music so for me it is worth it. I will eventually replace all the speaker, but for now I can wait.

If you play around with those two settings and the surround and adjust the front vs back you can tweak it a bit more.

For the cost of the system it's not bad.

Yeah, I agree bmw should have the option for a higher end audio system but it's cost-to-benefit

That is exactly what I did. I also use bimmercode to disable the active sound. With the combinations of both changes, the result is like night and day.

Update: I ordered this Match underseat woofers as they were recommended by an Audio Fischer Match authorized dealer. I have the AF Match Amp sold by Bimmertech.

I’m with you all on this outrageously weak sound system. Have had my G80 for close to a month now, still breaking it in, and the only thing I truly HATE about this car is the hollow, completely absent low end of this mediocre system. Very irritating considering what we pay, M car or not. This system is nearly as bad as my stock Subaru STI system circa 2011ish.

Also don’t need to hear the whole M car bit about how they’re not meant to have high end sound systems blah blah. I’m not looking for high end, I’m looking for some semblance of actual sound quality/fidelity from a $100K car.

Appreciate the EQ and Spotify recommendations, will try those tomorrow. Was messing with the EQ for a better part of this afternoon and couldn’t make it sound any better. This system is utterly pathetic. I’m coming from a 2017 340i, which I thought had the exact same HK system. The 340i was a bit muddy at times and clarity could sometimes be lacking, but it was significantly better than the PoS system in the G80.

What source do you usually play from? If you have heard the HK system in the X series you’d want to return the car. The HK in g80 is much better than one in my x5m. Yes I agree on lack of bass in HK system, but the surround and clarity in the mids and highs are pretty decent to me. I wanted to code the B&W via BimmerCode onto the car because it gives you more to adjust, I did on f95, but BimmerCode for this car is disappointing. The F head unit module isn’t even supported on MY25
