Any thoughts on the Turner SSK for G80? I prefer a solid metal design on the shift lever (not OEM-like).

I just purchased the Turner DSSR, which I'm hoping will greatly improve the shift feel. I already have the rogue rear carrier bushing. The stock throw doesn't bother me, but the build quality of the Turner SSK looks nice since it upgrades the shift lever bearing. I enjoy doing one upgrade at a time, so I know how each part changes the feel. I'll update back here once I get the DSSR installed.

For the record I've only had UUC short shift kits, and they are great. But it appears they don't make any for the G80.

AutoSolutions is shipping for G8x models and has overwhelmingly positive feedback. I just took delivery of mine. Also, for those that want a shifter than provides better feedback without reducing the throw length, Ronald at AutoSolutions can create you a shifter with those parameters.

Coincidentally, I am about to order 2 from Ronald. One is for a friend's future G80.
22.5% reduction and medium bushing.

Ronald is Uncle/OG status. [Edited]

Get them while supplies last.

I'll add that I have Auto Solutions shifter on my F80. My G80 will be copy and paste, including MHD No Lift Shift tune. It's the most fun possible without going to prison.

Thank you. Aim Solo data overlaid into action camera video.

Uncle status is pop culture slang to describe an old school legend.

It just means he's an "OG". I feel like most of the forum users are probably too old to be familiar with slang like that

If you had written "uncle" vs "unc" I would have understood lol. I was thinking academics or location/state so I was confused lol.

So you are not concerned with lack of DSSR? No natural lubrication with brass bushings. I will buy a short shift kit for the G80 I have yet to order, but I love the UUC short shift kits in my e36s.

Rogue

I first installed a Rogue Engineering short shift kit in my E 39 540 6 speed back in 2003. They were well engineered and manufactured back then. I recently installed their G80 SSK in my 2025 G80. Full details of the Rogue Engineering shifter versus the stock shifter including pictures are provided in my write up, which is in this section of the forum also.

I’ve had nothing but good experience with the Rogue Engineering shifter. Shifts are short and crisp and accurate and have never missed/ground gears, etc.

The writer who said that they are garbage sounds like he has a personal beef. Everything that I have observed with the shifter design and manufacture is first rate.

I also had an AutoSolutions SSK on my F80 and will 100% be going this route again. I think Ron is accepting orders again starting December 1st.

Ronald is booked through January right now. I’m on the list in case anyone else backs out earlier 🙂.

Where can you buy the auto solutions kit? Their website shows up as nonexistent.

Ronald is a one man company and kind of like the Rain Man of SSK's. I think he is older now and selectively picking and chosing his work. Keep calling/emailing to get on his list.

I know people on this forum who have stocked up on SSK's in anticipation of Ronald moving to Boca del Vista.

Turner motorsports short shifter installed here. Very notchy feeling over stock and definitely shorter shifts. Super easy install for a diy also.

Question - in the video, the shifter arm (housing into which the shift lever pivot is installed) appears to be in contact with the body at the front of the cutout. It also does not look like the rubber shift boot lip will fit between the shifter arm and the body. Is this video of a completed installation?

Nothing touches the body in regards to the shift lever or the selector rod. Probably the video angle. The rubber shift boot fits over the turner shift arm. It needs to be massaged and stretched but it all lines up and creates an oem seal with the body

How was the install? What all needs to be removed underneath the car?

It can all be done inside the car. The only thing that needs to be removed is the clip holding in the shifter. And that still is easily accessible in the car
