While dropping the car off, detailer already found a dent in the door! Someone'd bumped their door into mine. Luckily they were able to get it out like it wasn't there!

I came with no expectations or prejudice, having only used iDrive 6 on my M2C. I think iDrive 8 is amazing and everything is laid out logically. Climate control is never an issue. I usually just set it auto and never bother with it much but it's still always accessible. The displays are high resolution and everything is crisp. My only gripe is I wish you could change the gauge cluster but just nitpicking. In everyday use I really like it for my usecase.
Is this clear PPF or satin PPF? Could you please provide a picture of a panel that has PPF next to a panel that doesn’t? Wanting to PPF but scared that you’ll be able to notice the transition from non-PPF panel to PPF. Thanks!

I know that....but supposedly the reflections in the paint (or in the case of matte....no reflection) makes it very hard not to have some evidence of the removal.

The car looks great! Congrats!

How are the frozen colours to maintain? I’d imagine water spots and tree sap to be a significant challenge?

Looks amazing. That color is very cool.

After doing PPF on my current F87, I’m going to do it on all of my “nicer cars” from now on. I’d imagine you’d want it even more so on a matte paint.

Enjoy it! This is the best G series car IMO, and maybe the best color combo.

is there a disadvantage to applying a PPF?

When they cut the film w/ a cutter, does that not reach the paint level?

He’s not in the US, so perhaps, the model year is based on something other than what it’s based on here.

Great choice! One of the best if not the best matte colors I have seen.

Just took delivery of my M8 Comp in frozen Grey metallic. I am also not wanting to put any type of film or PPF on it because I love the factory look. Since you have been running it without anything for two years how has your experience been with rock chips?

A few small ones here and there. But I have a quality touch up paint which I use a toothpick with. Blends right in.

So knowing what you know now, would you go back and do a protective film or do you like having the naked frost paint even with its potential risks?

Here's a photo at the gas station. The fender has PPF and the door doesn't. For me, you can't tell the difference really.

That actually looks indistinguishable. Wish I could see it in person. I’m still not sure what I want to do.

Beautiful car! After the M2C collecting quite a few rock chips, for me doing at least the front was worth the piece of mind. I intend to keep the car for a while so it'd be nice if the front didn't look beaten up.

Makes sense. I never keep cars too long, so I’m not sure if it’s worth it for me. If I was planning to keep it, then maybe, but I always get bored and I’m on to the next.

Great looking ride yourself. The color is amazing. I’m loving it.

I would still choose the naked route. Mainly because on white cars, PPF will yellow quick. I PPF’d my hood (DIY) for a proof of concept to see how it looked against the rest of the car. It was a bit different. I left it on, and in just a year, the hood was a different color. I pulled that PPF off a few months ago.

Sorry for the thread jack, OP!
