I'll probably look into protection films, but quite disappointed this is an issue.

It does happen. I kinda doubt the windshields on the m3 are worse than others, more likely you just got unlucky. |

Definitely considering PPF on the entire front end of my car after this. Never had an issue with previous cars I've owned but have noticed a few comments similar to this.

Safelite did a poor job replacing a windshield on my X5 and also lost the factory trim of course. So that sucked.
This time, I'm thinking of getting the XTEC windshield PPF. The windshield PPF apparently blocks as much UV as their tint. So, seems logical that the windshield PPF can be installed in place of 70% tint, correct? |

I’m guessing you think windmills kill whales too? 😂 I’m not an environmentalist but I’m also not an idiot. Your solution of putting “fists in faces” will solve all our problems how? Violence seems to be all the “rage” today. OK. I’m off my soapbox now. Sorry, pet peeve about politics in a car forum. |

There should be a class action lawsuit about these windshields.

This post makes feel like I’m living on borrowed time. Luckily I haven’t had to replace one in this car. 26K miles. Not trying to be a troll, I have done 3 windshields on my wife’s Volvo in the last 5 years. I rarely drive the M4 on the highway, she is mostly a twisty roads cruiser and I am wondering if there is a correlation. How many of you have suffered a broken windshield driving on a highway vs slower roads?
My theory is at least in the US we are not cleaning our roads often as we use too leading to more debris on our roads. |

But it scratches, especially if you drive in the rain a lot. The wipers leave marks over time. I understand that there's some special wiper blades to minimize this, but I haven't tried them. I do like the fact that when a rock hits my windshield, I don't cringe as much as I did without it...it does protect pretty well.
