Good luck opening a warranty request. Took over a month for them to tell me to ship the product back. God knows when I'll get the replacement.
I'm sure … I'm requesting a refund , not a replacement. I'm going with Dahler

Didn't even know that was possible. Who did you buy it from?

So just to update this. I haven't had any issues with the controller on my M3 but seems like there are some recently and supply is limited as well. Got a new x3m for my wife yesterday and decided it made more sense for me to open the valves myself with steel zip ties as I never close them anyway so I can save $200 and no waiting. Again, I'm not handy around cars at all but I did the job in under 30 minutes.

I had my mechanic unplug mine to see if I liked it. It was great for a few days and the exhaust sounded great. My only drawback was the days I wanted car quite, I still could hear the exhaust although I turned off button in cabin. Almost like a drone sound sometimes. Maybe it's different if you tie them off but I didnt do that, so I had him plug it back in.

Since I was under there I played around with it a few minutes. Simply unplugging them results in the valves staying in whatever position they were when you did it. Prior to start up most are in the 2/3 open. Prior to wiring them open I turned them into the fully open position.

So when you did the above, what did you do about the actual actuator position? Did you by chance adjust the position so you could put it back
in or just take the actuators off and tape up the plugs?

I left it as is and was able to reinstall 2 of the bolts 100% and one 80%.

So the actuators just function as if they were moving the valve, but they ultimately aren't?

Sorry. No. I disconnected the plug so they are off.

Unplugging them does nothing. They default to full closed, and are never fully open no matter the throttle or other settings with the actuators attached. That's why I wired mine open 18 months ago and have the best sound and $200+ still in my pocket. The controllers--even when they work, are a complete waste of money imo. To each his own, but anyone that thinks the stock exhaust is too loud with the valves open has much more delicate sensitivities than those of us who drove V8s for many years.

In comfort if you turn off exhaust, is there still a considerable amount of exhaust sound coming into cabin. My wife doesn't ride in car often but I remember her getting agitated when it was in Sports+. Getting rid of her IA more expensive....😅😳

It goes back to default.

But im unsure whether this happens as soon as your turn off the car or when you turn it back on.

So for those you have the VSC-2 or had them, would you recommend it anymore given the issues with high failure rate and poor customer service? I do like the idea of the steel wires but want to be considerate of my neighbors as I do go to work early in the morning. Any alternative choices other than the VSC. I see Dahnler name coming up a lot. Would that be a better option. Not really handy with installation etc.

I zip tied mine open and to be honest the car isn't loud at all, maybe at first with a cold start. I say you wait until you get your car and try it. If you don't like it, undo it and spend $600 on a valve controller (Dahler). I can help you install it.

Thanks. I’d prob do that. Yeah the early morning cold start will be an issue but I’ll see how loud it is before plunking more cash. Lol

Keep your garage closed for like 30 seconds, I have neighbors too and not once do I feel like the car is too loud. I'm so happy I tried this mod of fixing the valves open. I'd never want them closed anyway. People spending $2-600 on these controllers, crazy. Just know you have local members who can help out with stuff. Send me a PM if you need help with anything.
