I’ve bought this over 2 months ago and will finally plan to install this weekend. My procrastination was primarily wanting to install the controller in the trunk battery compartment but reading how some users reporting that the 2024 models had a permanent grommet I held off. However, today I finally went to the trunk to take a look, I found that I had a plastic removable grommet in MY24 was so excited that while pushing at the plastic grommet, it fell into the “abyss” black box on the underside of the car. I thought about just leaving it in there and shouldn’t rattle too bad when driving, but my OCD will drive me crazy thinking about that plastic grommet in that abyss So wanted to ask if anyone has removed the black box but more specifically asking how many screws I will need to remove? Thanks.

I had a similar issue when installing mine. If you have really small hands (I do not) you may be able to just loosed a couple of the screws off and slip your hand in. Unfortunately, I had to remove about 4 screws if I recall. I had to loosen some of the heat shielding and pull it down to get enough clearance into the black box.
Bit of faffing about, but I'm a bit OCD too.

I did something similar while verifying my 2024, however it fell on the ground. I just reinserted it from the inside of the trunk backwards for now until I order the SST and have time to install.

If you remove the back wheel and the wheel liner from the side you went through, it gives you much better access to that area. The liner is all one piece and just attaches with bolts to the frame.

You think this is a defect if both of ours are acting the same way? I think it’s just a design flaw.

It seems that's just how they function for whatever reason. I have my memory function set to oem, when i left them open today and turned the car off and used remote start they stayed open, but as soon as i pressed the start button to drive they went back to oem. Must be the startup sequence that is screwing up the memory function, sst probably never thought of remote start changing something.

I'm just guessing the valve actuators don't get powered properly during a remote start, the actuators without a valve controller probably close on shutoff, whereas the SST or another valve controller can only do their memory function on startup since it requires the car to provide power.

Just a guess, not going to remove my controller to test it lol.

I’ve read somewhere that the OEM memory function does not work when using remote start. I thought it was an FAQ, manual, or something, but it’s out there. Sorry I don’t have a link.

In the user guide, it states "D: Exhaust flaps can be opened individually to a half open position"

I'm curious... Are people only using D mode with 'efficient' car settings? If you're in M2 (or M1), I've read folks stating that by default, the exhaust flaps opens up to 60-80% based on throttle response. So, using D mode and being restricted to 50% open wouldn't make sense in M1/M2 mode I assume?

I've only programmed A and C to the Homelink buttons and works great.

the 50% setting makes the most sense if you want to drive the car in comfort with a little more sound but not too much. so instead of having the valves fully closed, you use the 50%

if you want to open the valves, your best bet is to open them at 100% for maximum sound.

No jacks are needed. Though more room is always better.

Can't wait for mine to arrive! Planning to install MAD's single mid pipe and pair it with the SST valve controller this weekend but mine shipped from Germany! Hopefully it's here by friday! Otherwise, guess i'll have to be patient.

A bit of clarification. By default, M1 and M2 do absolutely nothing to the exhaust valve operation. What impacts the valve opening is the Engine setting being in either Sport or Sport+. If you configure your M1 or M2 buttons to change the engine mode, then pushing them has an effect.

Duh, Most people have M1 for Sport and M2 for Sport+ reason they are refering to them.
