Neither.

If you're willing to be unbiased in your hunt for a new vehicle, outside of Porsche, Chevrolet and Ford are taking a giant shit on German "sports" cars right now.

Yes but this has been a very odd decision since the 3 series was established as the 4 door and the 4 series as the 2 door with the F3x series. Back in the E9x days, sure this made sense but now its odd. No other series share front fascia.

Logically, this would have been the appropriate time for the separation between M3/M4 front ends but maybe I'm the crazy one here

I absolutely agree with the negative responses. I have a co-worker who currently drives a 4 series coupe and he loves the design. Needless to say this design is polarizing and the real test will be sales. How is the redesigned 7 selling?

Community response reminds of when Acura change the TL to a birds beak front grill or when corvette went away with the circle tail lights.

Give it a year and everyone will fall back in line and accept the new look and it will be the new normal. With a few mods it'll look pretty mean coming up in the rear view mirror.

I was hoping it would look more like the 4 concept. Perhaps it will when I can see the final production.

The aftermarket parts could make a big difference in the overall appearance.

I was thinking of a M440, but I might stick with the N54 e92 for awhile and see what the new 2 series looks likes in a year and a half. I'll be approaching 100k miles at that point and turn the e92 into my "winter beater."

This completely rules out a new M3/M4 for me. My options are to keep my M4 ZCP after my lease ends, M340i, or another brand completely.

I'm guessing it's the 430i without the M-Sport package since the air intakes are pretty puny relative to what we saw on the 4er concept.

Most enthusiasts will appreciate body mods that the normal humans wouldn't (diffusers, front lips, carbon bits) but this is the opposite where the OEM parts look awful.

Sources: my non-enthusiast friends I show these leaks to have ALL thought it looked terrible. I have yet to encounter one that liked it

You keep believing that. Most people aren't on forums. Even from an anecdotal perspective, my point stands true. No ///M driver that I've ever pulled over is on Bimmerpost. I know this because I've asked every single one of them after complementing their car and sending them on their way. In fact, I ask every ///M driver that I come across. Just last week I came across a ZCP and CS while going to a local fast food joint. Both cars were lightly modified. I made contact with the owners as they were walking out; both were with their children. Neither were on Bimmerpost. As usual, I welcomed them to join the forum because it is a great resource.

I have no doubt in most categories this car will be an improvement of the F8X. But sorry, I just can't get beyond such a polarizing design.
It’s not an overstatement, it’s an understatement. Not for you personally, based on your comments I’ve seen, but based on many others. One guy wants to sell his E92 to disassociate himself with the brand haha. All this based on a car no one has seen in its entirety and one that promises incredible performance AND a manual transmission.

We are not the sales barometer. You think 85% of F8x owners know the engine code is S55?

Does "overwhelmingly" work better? I mean there have been maybe 1 or 2 posts per PAGE of people who either don't mind it (not very excited from their post verbiage) or really like it.

This is design really doesn't seem to be well received here with us. Let's be generous and say 20% have like the design. That still is extremely low for a design standpoint compared to past releases here on this forum. Just my observations.

Like others have said we need to see the full car. It just doesn't seem like even the final product will change the minds of the vast majority here (I most likely won't ever like this design)
WE online enthusiasts are not the barometer.
I think being an enthusiast has little bearing on ones opinion of wether or not a car looks good (I didn't say no bearing). Enthusiast care more about performance, feel, transmission, steering, etc. than the rest of the population no doubt. I will wait to see the car in the flesh before passing judgment, however I'm not optimistic from what I've seen so far.

95% of ya all saying you hate it or moving on, are full of it. Who was has contacted their respective CA to be removed from the G80 waiting list? I hear crickets.

Living in a rear only license plate state, don't have to worry about the front bracket ruining the grill.

Jason can you start a stickie for all the G80/82/83 haters to sign and then we can compare in 12+ months when the hypocrites are asking for advice on G8x deals/posting builds/photos?

I do. When you start test driving other cars you'll be reminded that the reason you DRIVE a BMW is not the way it looks
I wouldn't say that, everyone is catching up or surpassing BMW when it comes to driving dynamics. BMW isn't at the advantage they had years ago.
