its nothing more than something to discuss among all of us. One of the things everyone should add with their experience with this tcu flash is... what tuning are they using. Curious how many DME tuners requested the torque limits be removed like mine did.

I just asked Femto for custom unlock for bm3. Custom unlock removes torque limiter.

Yeah Stage 2 is a little too tame and Stage 3, especially on the xDrive, is just too much. What the sweet spot is though, I don't know!

Have you driven much with Stage 2 and the -50% reduction? How's it feel?
It feels decent. Still too tame. I'm going to leave it like this for a bit to get more seat time with it.

smart man So what have you found differently with the XHP having had the torque limiters removed?

This is a good read on the topic of torque limit removal via ECU:

https://www.xhpflashtool.com/blog/li...engine_torque/

Preferred way is to do just do it via TCU only and not fake or patch the DME in sending scaled down torque request figures

Stage 3 with 20% torque upshift reduction and engine in Sport is actually really good.
I just did a 0-80 (just floor it from a stop) and it has just the right amount of kick between gears and no massive shock to the drivetrain.

I will test engine in Sport+ as well but I have a feeling that's where the problem is.

Do you have an xDrive? I actually never thought to mess with the shift speed or sport vs sport+ mode. Ive just always had it set to max shift speed and sport+. Going to give this a whirl tomorrow. Pretty funny this never even crossed my mind.

XDrive and I did use max shift speed (S3).

Looks to me like it's the engine is Sport+ that causes the massive shock to the drivetrain and occasional loss of traction.

The problem is that we need engine in Sport+ to use LC.

So I think, generally speaking, engine in Sport is the best way to go for now. Maybe they'll address how crazy the flash it with engine in Sport+ at some point or maybe they never will.

Appreciate this response. Said f it and pulled the trigger, just need to get the wifi adapter now. Funny didn't need it on my F90 I could flash with the cable i'm using to flash bm3 files.

Can anyone share a wifi adapter or cable they know works for this software?

It literally tells you in the error code. After it is flashed then you can use different ones to change the tune. But initially has to be what they have listed. And as far as I know the initial flash can't be wired either.

So I reached out to xHP regarding some tuners requesting torque limits removed and some not and leaving that alone when they are unlocking their DME's. I can only assuming, some of these tuners being well known in the industry, mine included, know what is needed in order to achieve the most power when custom tuning. However how does it effect things when you start flashing with xHP?

Here is the response form xHP, imho it doesn't answer a lot of questions for me including shift speeds etc.. As in how can this software still help of one has torque values removed via tuner in the dme etc..

"Hi,

removing the torque limiters via Femto is not necessary as tuners like MHD remove them thru the calibration. xHP should work on those cars, the only difference is that on RWD cars the launch control could overload the transmission and the clutches would spin because of that if the wheels have enough grip, this can happen on xDrive cars as well but not that common.

Also shifts could be different as they are meant to be with xHP because of the removed torque limiters.

in general the overall times should get better with xHP on stock vehicles and on tuned cars. Unfortunately we have not tested on our own how this would result with removed torque limiters.

Best Regards,
Semin Biscevic
"

Sounds to me they honestly don't now either so its all up to use like aways being guinea pigs with trial and error.

Maybe I'm crazy but if you want a smoother shift I think you should be doing -20%. Anytime I go positive the shifts become more harsh and rough in stage 3.

From my understanding with Tq Reduction on Upshift is - values are a little smoother and comfortable, + values are more punchy but uncomfortable.

My main problem with this flash is that it's hard to justify $400 for anything other than Stage 3 because I feel like Stage 2 is too close to stock.

Stage 3 shifts faster than stock but then again it shocks the drivetrain way too much on XDrive models (it's kinda fun but also makes me uneasy)

I want to play with it too lol just sucks waiting for it to arrive. But seriously there are 3 different stages. Wouldn't even stage 1 feel better (faster) than stock, heck even stage 2 be better than stock? Something doesn't make sense yet. Seems no on has the bread and butter setup. Assuming its safe to say most are keeping it on since they've yielded faster 1/4's and 60-130.

Mine tcu is stock and its lazy shifting from 3rd to 4th in high rpm's. Has this been addressed with stages 1, 2 and 3?

Another subject, wasn't BM3 coming out with a tcu flash for the 8 speeds?

Just flashed my xhp stage 3 on my full e85 tuned xdrive m3. Call me crazy but i feel like it's definitely perfect and worth it. Definitely is aggressive though but i like it.

Did you drive the car at 50-100% throttle yet? Did you feel the absolutely massive shock to the drivetrain between the shifts with engine in Sport+ and drive logic in S3?

I never got this. I got great shifts but under wot it killed power so bad that i removed xhp off the car and havent gone back.

Why do you believe it has killed power? Have you tried drag mode, should only make you faster under WOT
