Yes, i came across a few during my search and i moved on as it wasn't worth the hassle. There are plenty of dealers who would do the right things for customers and it might just take a little bit of time to find them.

They were talking about running it to lock in rates now. Told them no way since there is no real way to know when a car would even show up. Tried to tell me that bmwfs will honor rates months later. Seems fishy to me.

Locking in rates helps, if you have an actual allocation. Without an allocation though, it’s mostly useless as they only lock for 90 days (or 120 days for the west coast).

My CA confirmed with me that it was only a 60 day lock. You sure it’s 90?

This is true...if there are production delays they can extend the rate lock beyond the 90/120 days.

It's normal.... If the bmw fs rate is lower ...better to rate lock. Look around at other dealerships for an allocation. Rate locks are specific to one dealership only. Also allocation drop monthly so could have one coming. The question is how close are you in line to pole position, and are they doing markups?

Again your dealership isn't doing anything outside of the norm.

What is the magic behind the 90/120?

Can one dream that it implies that 90 days from requesting a new car with custom ordering (bmwfs application) an east-coast-USA customer will likely have an allocation 🫣🥺?

Also question: if you fill the form for credit app and dealer has yet to run your credit after almost 60 days, should I be concerned? Do dealers hold on this until the allocation is guaranteed? P.S. my credit is very good.

If anyone knows the ordering and financing process well, please reply or DM. Thanks

Can’t seem to get a clear answer. Is the credit app lock good for 60 or 90 days? I’m in TX.

It was 60/90, then during the parts shortages during the pandemic it went to 90/120. It’s possible that it’s back to 60/90. calbears ?

No magic...common bmw FS

All dealerships want you to have pre-approval or the understanding you can pay. Some require deposits, credit approval or drops of blood.

I only recommend doing a rate lock the day you get an allocation/build number.

90/120 should be enough time from build to delivery as the actual process of building the car takes a week or so. The rest is shipping.

The key is knowing when your talking to the dealership if they have a build/actually open fillable allocation which is assigned to you with a built to spec car.

Some dealerships will give you the build sheet with your build but the build number is blank..thus it's not a car in production so it doesn't count. Once you get an allocation you get a build number with a build week.

No, some dealerships will just hold the application or do a soft inquiry.

The key is when bmw FS emails you the preapproval it will have the dates of lock and expirations.

Again, if your car hits delays bmw FS or the dealership will honor the old rate lock.

It's 90days total from the date in which your approved including the month of application.

Aka if you apply on the 1st its the same as applying on the 30th... Then you get 60 days from the end of month.

Same is 120 for West coast

Rates change monthly

latest bulletin is 120 days for the Western region. Not sure if Texas falls in that or Eastern

Just was told by three different dealers here in TX. “The approval along with the rate, is good for 120 days from the day you submit your application.” One CA said from the end of the month. I don’t know. This is BMW FS policy.

No, in general. But there are people who would pay over sticker in any market for a hot vehicle.

Congrats! Can you inform us on where and when you negotiated this 2K below MSRP? You're a magician, Ive been all over this for 10 months trying to order a 2023 G80 and its almost a comedy, these dealers are clowns, sorry if it rubs everyone wrong but a dealership has become a circus tent full of fraudsters to me. Be well.

In Vegas I just submitted an order with no markup. I personally would not have paid if there is a markup
