I'm still in my break in period with my RWD, but I've been aggressive with turns on country roads. The traction of the G80 is far superior to the F80. It's been a blast to drive so far. Can't wait to let it lose. No worries about Ohio winters with some winter tires. Glad I stuck with RWD.

Changing my answer to: AWD G80 M3 + summer manual rwd toy (think Z4M)

I'm glad there are no AWD badges, they will have to respect all of us in fear of what maybe lurking!

That's a big change! If you're going to get a different sports car have you considered an M5?

Sorry misunderstood your post reading it the first time…. I test drove a F90 M5 and an F97 X3M. Just to see if I would want something other than the G8X…. Answer: no

Thoughts:
F90 M5 - a beast, but much more luxury than sports car. Felt almost boring to me, too heavy for what I want.
F97 X3M - felt like an M3 to me. It was great, loved it, but frankly I know the G8X will be even better, and I love the G8X looks way more.

I went with the 6MT, I'm down in Central Florida so weather isn't an issue. I am planning on tracking it once in a blue but not really buying the car for that. It really comes down to preference, do you want a 6MT or Auto. I don't think there will be a big difference in daily driving on regular roads. Just my 2c.

I'm going AWD this time around.

Most notably, I have a 2019 GT350 with a Gen V Whipple that makes 855 RWHP. She's got really wide tires and hooks well, but that car will probably have considerably more horsepower in the coming years, so it'll be on the track more often. This car is staying and will have to be pried from my cold dead hands.

I have a truck and some classic cars, but I don't have a sedan. I already enjoy the raw experience of RWD and a manual in my GT350, so getting a sedan in AWD in this segment is exciting to me.

Hard core manual trans/RWD guy here. Just ordered MY2022 Comp xDrive yesterday. Debated with myself for weeks as to 6-spd base vs auto competition. Went in planning to order RWD comp but in the end the combined factors of a more usable car living in the NE plus the added performance pushed me over the edge. Do I wish they offered 3 pedals on comp pack yes but for a mostly daily driver car this was the best option for me.

RWD…don’t need the AWD in South Florida; don’t care about the minor performance upgrade; save $4k.

Minor performance "upgrade" will be erased with a tune for $599.99 shipping included.
It doesn't take a genius to boost from 19 PSI to whatever you want and call it Competition, Leggera, Stradale, Fugassi, Faccia Brutta etc.
The real question is whether you want MT or AT - that's the only difference.
I don't need AWD but do wish for our northern friends they offered AWD with MT.

Will add my $.02 here:

In socal I have the luxury of having a rwd daily that I can run cup 2's on all year long. This is my only car and if I never left the east coast I 100% would've opted for the x-drive comp due to Winter driving. I prefer RWD due to it being lighter, less drivetrain loss, and the thrill of possibly losing control of your car lol. It keeps it exciting. Sounds stupid but hear me out.

I've had AWD cars in the past, like my b8.5 s4 five years ago, and I could essentially do whatever I wanted/hammer the throttle under a million different conditions and never worry about spinning out, burning rubber, etc. It got boring.

The traction control on the G8x is incredibly advanced. But still I relish those moments where maybe you give it a little too much gas exiting a corner and the back end slips out a tiny bit and you go oh shit and smile.

Also -- I was set on getting a manual and to me manual + rwd just go perfectly together.

Just don't forget, yes a tune will give you more power and make up some performance. Just don't expect the RWD models to keep this amazing traction when you are going up to and past 600 ho/tq

I am also coming from a B8.5 S4. Even though it was a great car, it wasn't as much fun as my previous RWD cars. I contemplated if I wanted to get AWD or RWD this time around knowing I can switch between the two modes. I didn't see the need for paying extra for a feature that may not benefit me as much. I won't be racing anyone from traffic lights/drag strips and I won't be tuning my car. I am happy with my selection and kudos to those who selected either versions (base, competition, competition xdrive). Enjoy in good health. Maybe the last ICE M3 you'll ever see.

MxDrive doesn’t make an M3 behave anything like an FWD platform Audi. Don’t make the mistake to think it does if you are curious about the MxDrive version at all.

That's what the M3 is for, RWD 100% of the time for me.

Audi's are not as fun as M cars full stop (S & RS models included - they feel numb/bloated in comparison to an M2/3/4), the G8X xdrive will be as fun as the rwd versions since they have the ability to be 100% rwd... on the flip side they'll be a LOT more fun in the snow.
