It’s not about the weighting. It’s about the improvement in on center feel and a much more natural and linear response to corners.

Thanks I do feel that. I guess I had my expectations all wrong. Overall I'm glad I got it done. Because I have a manual, I just opted for steering and it's not too costly at all

Wondering about this too. My steering def does not snap back to center. It kinda creeps but the last inch on either side is sticky for sure. Nice to hear it solved with this. The only question is why the F BMW doesn’t just code this from the start?!?!

CS is the new //M

//M is the old //M Sport

//M Sport is the old BMW

BMW is the old Audi.

Kinda like why is there a 911 Carrera, Carrera T, Carrera S and Carrera GTS that are all RWD with 3.0 flat 6 twin turbo engines?

Just had mine coded back when I installed the iDrive software update (and I'm going in for a service tomorrow).

Crazy how different the car feels. It's definitely more sluggish stock, and I'm glad I'm going to get the CS transmission re-coded early next week after my service.

I did a video with the sound on shifting with the CS transmission. MUCH crisper and much more like a DCT.

Nice! What mode were your Sport Plus manual shifts in? S2 or S3?

Thanks!

Manual shifts were in S3.

When the car was shifting by itself, in efficient it was in S1, in sport+ it was in S2.

Trying to code my G80 with CS EPS (no need for EGS as I have XHP already).

My car is ilevel 21-07 so first thing I did is flash EPS4 module to latest swfl and cafd based on 23-11 ilevel (PSdZData v4.45.30)

I created new VO with typecode 62AY (RHD EUR G80 CS) and zeitkriterum 23-03 and calculated FA/FP tree. I then VO coded the EPS4 module - all good.

But when I compare diff of the NCD before VO coding and after, it is identical so I must have missed something.

Can anyone help me with the missing piece? Am I missing some SALAPA option or something else?

kubax86 you are very knowledgeable and I know you offer a paid service, but would you be able to give me any hint of what I am missing?

Also tagging Stevo in case you know?

You can actually code EPS and Suspension using BimmerUtility , no need for Esys

I just did the CS coding today with Gareth from BMWTechServices - he was great to work with and efficient. I did the entire suite - CS transmission, steering, diff, and suspension coding.
I will update again when I get out and do some driving.

OK so after probably 60-90 mins of driving yesterday here are thoughts:

Steering - seems better in all modes. The off-center dead feel seems to be eliminated whereas before it always like it lacked any output to your input. Now that area of movement feels much more responsive. I also the steering wheel has more of a tendency to come back to center naturally too.

Shifts - in comfort they seem more fluid, and Sport+ the upshifts are quicker and seem to feel more action when shifting, and downshifts add a crispness that the standard oem software doesn't have. Stock always seems to smoothly rev match in a rather composed way whereas the CS software seems to snap more to the rpm its rev matching to.

Suspension and diff - Suspension seems more compliant to me and can't say how the differs.

Overall, for $200, well worth it. The changes are noticeable and IMO should have been this was as standard.

I never checked the diff but just steering as that's the only part I am interested in... and to be honest I have came to the same conclusion.

I plugged in my friend's car into Esys who has the "CS coding" done remotely via a paid service.

I read his SVT and checked the SWFL and CAFD versions for the EPS4 module. He's on CAFD 0003EE4_004_000_030 whilst I am on a newer version now: 0003EE4_004_000_031

I then read his NCD data for the CAFD and guess what? It is identical to mine!

So my conclusion is that unlike in the F80 gen where there were FDL coding parameters that referenced F82 GTS and F82 Comp variants in the EPS module, the G80 is nothing like that, there is no such thing as CS steering coding.

What I have noticed from flashing my car from old 21-07 ilevel to 23-11 is that the steering is more direct, no more dead zone in the center. But this not because of "CS coding", it's just the latest update/tweak that BMW have made for all G80, provided you are on the latest software version.

Like I said I haven't checked diff but I honestly would not be surprised it's the same.

However the CS transmission is legit and is a different SWFL so therefore it is unique to the G80 CS.

If there's anyone out there who wants to contest this then please write back and provide some evidence that your service actually adds CS specific steering because it's just a load of bullshit

I'll ask some of the more knowledgable folks over at CarTechnology forums as well see what they got to say about this

I stand corrected, thanks for the pointer. I was being stupid and comparing the wrong NCD files, I re-checked in Esys and there is indeed a change for steering when CS is set in VO:

So what module would be changed for the gearbox? Can you screenshot? Thanks!

Agreed. Before on stock tuning, it felt like you'd hit the paddle on downshifts, release and then the shift would happen smoothly revving to the rpm match. With the CS software, it feels like by the time the action happens on the paddle the shift snaps to the rpm match.

I can check for you later, I need to connect my car and re-calculate TAL to see what the updated SWFL is for CS gearbox flash.

Personally I am running XHP so I never bothered flashing it.

On a separate note, has anyone tried coding the yellow style G80 CS/G82 CSL DRL's? I did a quick diff using a G80 CS VO file, and the NCD's are different so I think it should work.

Need to try it sometime, unfortunately I already have the yellow DRL modules (hardware change) so I wouldn't be able to test it on my own car unless I swap the modules back.

The LEDs are single color LEDs, I don't think they're codeable.
