Gorgeous spec on the GTS. I just got rid of my 991.2 C2GTS to go back to enjoying something on a daily basis as I live in an area with lots of snow over winter. Still miss it - it’s a fantastic car and I’m sure the 992 is an improvement!

New to the forum. But found this thread.
Wanted to say the BMW/Porsche combo is a great way to go.
Sold two old air cooled to get something more weekend trip friendly. The wife really doesn’t like traveling in the Porsches.
And I’m looking forward to the M4 I ordered. It will be nice to have a car that fits more than a couple of backpacks for the weekend.
And I still have the 07 for me time.

Are you keeping it or decide to go with a GT3?

Thats the question --- Im watching the market just get crushed so quickly and GT3's overcorrection is down. While its not a true money thing, its a prudent thing on my side. The gap in performance is lean from that to my GTS.

I have a street able ripper in the GTS and its modded (M Engineering tune, cats, exhaust) and loud... I know the GT3 is the level up on the track and has that unique look as well.

The white winged one I was looking at sold for 270k and thats still about 55k over its msrp (used with 1k miles). But the days of 100 over are finally ending...

Finally got the Sharky all clean after the annoying yet necessary rains in Cali .... just love the way the car drives and feels on the road.

I am also watching the market for a winged version - 992 or 991.2.

Given that BMW is doing the same BS with their CSL and CS I am looking at the GT3 again. But the market will need more time to normalize, staying on sidelines for now. Want over Need …….

If you had to choose between the GTS or the R8, which would you pick and why? Late last year I had the opportunity to drive the GTS on track at Summit Point and was absolutely blown away. I felt like it would be a perfect compliment to the G80. In the moment I thought I'd absolutely choose it over my R8, but looking back now I'm not sure. Unfortunately I don't have space for a 4th car, so the R8 would have to go to make way for a 911 if I go that route.

Oh man dont make me choose ---- such different drivers. Porsche engineering, chassis development, steering, etc is so amazing and the GTS is a small level up on an already brilliant 992. But the R8 with the V10 symphony and a dying 600 hp n/a breed gives me pause.

I guess if I only had one car, the GTS is the easier pick but with a multi point stable the R8 is a great 2nd or tertiary beast for sure.

I literally am amazed with the V10 sound BUT the flat 6 is not slouch itself and I do feel Porsche steering and dampening is better than my Performance R8 (non magnetorheologicals). If one cares a bit about cabin tech and feel, the Porsche is more advanced there as the R8 is dated but again, thats not the purpose it should serve.

Choices!!!

Don't remember if you've ever been asked this, but is there a reason you kept the R8 as opposed to going to a Huracan? I know you've had an Italian breed in the stable at some point, so wondered if that pushed you away from going Italian again.

I've heard the R8 is more liveable than the Huracan, more affordable, and they share a lot of parts and performance... was wondering if there was something deeper I'm missing.

I appreciate the updates on the GTS though! Never fails to make me crack a smile.

Good question--- I did have a Huracan (2015 with OEM Matte Paint) but it was sandwiched between 4 R8's. The Huracan was a big lightweight shell and it was a raw mother fucker (aftermarket exhaust) but it was not practical like the R8 (dare I say that LOL). The R8 is more refined and to your point retains the most important part of the car; its V10 engine. Plus its around 100k less in most markets and while money is relative, being prudent has not left my my mind at times. The cabin is more comfortable and its a better secondary or tertiary car for me.

The Huracan is a huge attention grabber and truly a weekend warrior and I just enjoyed the year I had it and moved on. I did look into Performante but the deal didnt make sense at the time.

This was my Hura and yes members will say damnnnnnnnnnnn but its still not as functional as an R8

And the boring R8 LOL

Big stunner! Suzuka Grey on the R8 is gorgeous as well, sophisticated with a touch of drama. I appreciate the owner's experience insight! It's really a matter of weighing drama vs refinement as I figured. Hopefully the R8 market is kind, considering the news of the R8 being discontinued.

Since we're asking general car questions, I have one for Vic: How many miles (on average) do you put on each of your vehicles per year?

I've often wondered if I had a high budget for vehicles, how I'd spend it. Would I buy several sports cars? Would I buy one big ticket car and one daily? Would I vary it even more? I've thought that I'd only buy 3 vehicles--a vehicle to use for utility (truck or SUV), a comfortable and luxurious daily driver, and a pure sports car. If I bought a 4th, it'd be for a classic collector type of car that I'd rarely drive. But you've got an R8, 911 GTS, Model S and an M3 along with whatever else and I'm genuinely curious how you decide which to drive and when.

Nice rides you have, all of them! I think the GTS is my favorite.

Im probably on the very very low side as:

1. I dont really work
2. when I do, I dont
3. all my cars are for pleasure
4. I dont drink and drive and I drink beer often so that means a driver or TCP unit.

My best guess, all joking aside, is averaging all of them in- maybe 2-2500k a year on each but probably less

Is there one you drive more often, or is it just whatever you feel like taking for a spin on any particular day? Have you consider some collector-grade vehicles like the Carrera GT, Countach, or if you're in to more modern vehicles the Viper ACR or Ford GT? If you're putting less than 2k a year, you can enjoy them and they're still appreciating.

Beauty Vic! How much room is left in the stable? I've lost track of the number of beauties you have there. I think I've seen one to cover each day of the work week!

GTS joining the family. Arrived this morning. Garage is going to be pretty colorful. PPF and ceramic before it officially goes home with her M3 sibling. Will post more when she’s all done up.
