I ended up removing that plastic piece. Was that the correct thing to do? Everything seems secure now.

Second picture is the plastic rubber air dam holder that I removed
I had the exact same issue. I wasn't sure if the plastic piece was needed but without it, the rubber seals in front of the radiator was touching so I was worried about heat on the track melting it, though that piece is itself plastic so maybe that rad never gets that hot? Would the engine oil not get up to 100 C when the engine is at running temp? I ended up cutting 2mm or basically the rail the rubber strip mounted to before I could fit the guard properly. I think it would be great to add that to the instructions - either you can remove it or cut it. Odd that some people have this issue while a lot don't. Mine's a 2026 G80 Comp xDrive. Also I think it would have been good to have washers for those two 15mm bolts because when I went to remove those bolts to put the black plastic back (I'd removed it when I first installed it), I noticed the bolts are removed the wrinkle finish from the tightening.

Thank you for the feedback. I did remove it the plastic bracket from the instructions due to people not having to remove it while some other have. I can always add it back if needed.

I recently installed and am happy with the product and quick shipment from X-PH.

One change I made was to replace the M10 screws that came with the oil cooler guard to BMW part number 07-11-9-905-606, which are grade 10.9 (like the OEM screw), zinc plated, and are the same 80 mm length as those included in the kit. I also added a hardened washer to help with proper clamping of the stiffener plate when torquing to 56 NM plus 90 degrees.

I am sure the screws provided with the kit are fine, but this just gave me peace of mind.

Screws in picture from top to bottom are the BMW part referenced above with washer, the screw included with MAD cooler guard, and factory screw.

We haven’t seen or heard of any issues with those bolts so far, but if upgrading them gives you some peace of mind for a few bucks, I’m all for it.

Thanks for sharing the part numbers and your feedback with the community we appreciate it.

Just to be clear…. I have read a ton of reviews of the MAD product, and I have not seen a single mention that the included screw was an issue or caused an issue. Besides being anal retentive, I had no reason to use something different.

Thanks MAD for putting out a high quality product at a reasonable price

Also removed the plastic piece. It basically broke off by itself.
On my car, the rubber insert that is supposed to deflect air flow into the cooler was missing. Should I be concerned? Anyone has the part number?

The rubber “air dam” strip is not needed and easily falls off anyway. The metal edge on the skid plate does the job.

Sorry, I'm new here but I was looking at Cooler Guards for my new g81 which is due to leave Germany any day enroute to Australia. Looking at your international shipping you have two options, one is UPS Worldwide Expedited and the other is UPS Worldwide Saver. The Saver one is $20 dearer than the expedited Do you have any idea what that's about? Also the shipping adds almost USD$300 to the cost of the guard......at the risk of sounding tight, have you got any other options because $USD 300 is $430 Aussie dollars (for shipping). Seems expensive (I realise that's not your doing).

I like the look of your product, maybe you've got a retailer in Australia who imports bulk items or something? It doesn't hurt to ask?

Look forward to your reply.

I just ordered this skid plate and was hoping there is no issue installing a front lip.

Depends on the lip I guess but but the front section of skid plate is basically metal replacement of the stock plastic where it connects to the bumper.

Did a bit more digging and it should be fine lips using existing hardware.

I haven’t received my skid plate yet, but the feedback so far has been very positive. It’s great to see a reasonably priced product.

Yeah we haven't heard any issues with lips either except for those lips who may use a bracket but, I dont think many do.

Very welcome! M tax eliminated

This might be a stupid question but is this covered under warranty - parked in a spot with a very misaligned parking curb that I didn’t see (it was almost in the middle of the parking *******. M3 is lowered 10mm on MPHAS. Front clears the curb easily but heard a loud crunch and the curb tore off most of the weather strip bar. Pictures posted.
