But one thing is for sure: - Everyone was talking about BMW because they made that grill Like it or not, but now everyone knows about this car and talked about it... Once people get used to it this will be positive. I don't think that only idiot's work at BMW, they know exactly what they are doing... And also, I personally like it Even though I wouldn't have been mad if they made a conservative grill though, I would have bought this anyway as it was always my dream to own an M3. |

I haven't gone through all these pages so hopefully not a repeat but did you notice Car and Driver had 0-100 for the manual at 9.2 yet 1/4 mile at 11.7. Those don't seem aligned as the F80 manual was about the same to 100. Can't see making up that much in the last couple of seconds.

Its absolutely silly to think that bmw needed to hype a new design for the M3, its just not true no matter how one wants to justify the design.
The last sentence says it all, people dream about owning an M3 so bmw didnt need to do this and thats my biggest gripe. Its ugly period. And Im sure many peps like me will have to decide if we can accept how off the design is because we know its going to drive well. Still undecided. |

To me the E9x was the dream car, which I have now and love dearly but never got to experience "brand new." I've always wanted to own a new M3 someday so I too will likely overlook the awkward front end design so that I can experience a four door manual transmission with nearly 500hp. As awkward as this car is from the front it is killer with everything else and the Cadillac black wing CT4V is even more awkward of a design. |

My take on CH review is that he didn't think very highly of the car. Competent yes but he prefers the generations prior, transmission, weight, character. He loved the f80 from his first review, didn't feel the same to me in this.
You watch his recent video on the 992 gt3 and he's like a kid, that's when you know that Chrissy likes. The topgear review doesn't have Harris name on it. Sure the 9/10 will have Chris's input but if it's a panel, his vote, judging my the video review, would be lower. Now to figure out how to get into a gt3. Will hold onto the f80 in the mean time. May a g80 CSL, manual will fix |

If you think CH liked the G80, you haven't seen him driving the M2 and how happy he was XD . He's just just saying it's a more capable car... he never said it was "better", i think he's one of those people where performance doesn't outclass feel and soul. He 's just saying it's a great car except the design, but i'm guessing he wouldn't buy one... or maybe the touring.
Also i'm guessing that new gen might have lots of revision same as F8x did ... so later cars might be significantly improved too... Last edited by thaalrasha; 03-10-2021 at 09:16 AM.. |

I definitely could buy this car if it wasn't for the ZF. I must say also the price is ridiculously high because of the high cartax in our country for petrol cars. That G80 did not even have carbon seats and it was 170k eur. The Taycan 4S I specced was 142k eur....... But those people who live in the UK or US with an zero or almost zero cartax, go out and check the car! At least in that Tanzanite blue color it was a beauty. I suspect it is the same also for me at least with the IOM green. Personally I have had too many black and grey cars, don't like them anymore. |

Maybe I'm the only one, but I like the G80 much more than the G82 and with a dark color (in my car davit) it looks just great, for me. I will take the small rims, black exhaust, RWD, ZF8 and 290 kmh package and will be the most happy family car driver in the world. To kick that thing on the Autobahn will make my day ones a week when I drive it there. The hips, the front, the back, the carbon roof - I like it.

It might be my fading memory but I do think the consensus is more positive than for the F80/F82 launch.
Last time it was chatter about the exhaust note and turbocharging. This time it's the styling (I do agree with CH about the wing mirrors mind). You gotta love this moment though. It will calm down soon and, LCI & touring apart, another 8 years until the next gen M3. In fact, it's the delay for the touring that most frustrates me, although at least here in the UK we are finally getting one. Sign me up. |

That would translate to around 7,8 sec from 100-200 km/h! |

CH didn’t like the car, but he’s not going to shit on the brand completely in my opinion. He made a post on IG where he said “actions speak louder than words” and it’s pretty clear in his review that he’s not physically really excited with the car. Go see his m2 comp or his other car reviews where he’s legitimately excited. That opinion might change over time and his word isn’t gospel but I think he represents a large voice in the m community

I think that the car has so much more road presence than any car in its class, and the interior is a class above the F80/82! Overall great package! |

After seeing them both in person and beside each other, the M3 looks significantly better than the bloated looking M4.
IMHO of course. |
