BMW has ruined my suspension
so i had BMW dealership install MPHAS. they didnt put the shims in, perches were moving and sway bar broke, damaged end links, and a punctured tire. this was after 4 previous visits to address pops and clunking since the install. they replaced everything but 2 mos later suspension starts clunking again. they replaced sway bar end links this week then told me some BS "the MP HAS has changed the geometry of your suspension. we replaced the sway bar end links again but you might want to consider after market end links so this problem doesnt happen again." service manager is an ass. all in all my car has spent 7 weeks in the shop for issues related to MP HAS install.
so. f-it. going to get coilovers and have the local independent Porsche shop do the install. they are good. question: on top of coilovers what else should i get? IND suggested the monoballs, rear tow links and differential brace. thoughts or suggestions on what all to replace when going to coilovers? I'm either doing KW or Ohlins. i dont have a track anywhere close so spirited street driving would be the main usage. appreciate any feedback or recs. thanks all. |

Can you find a different dealer and file a complaint with BMW NA? There is nothing wrong with the MPHAS. There are a zillion of us using it with no issues at all. Sounds like a crappy dealer that doesn’t know how to install it. I don’t think I’ve read about anyone having an issue with the MPHAS kit before. FWIW, mine is full drop, installed at port, 13k miles.

When you say perches moved does that mean the heaight adjustment collar set screws were not tightened? Swaybar broke? I don’t think that’s possible, do mean endlinks? Many OEM HAS installations over the years and your experience is not the norm. With that said, coilovers are a much better option but not clear what the original problem was. Did a suspension component puncture your tire? Never hear if that.

they wouldn't give me the paperwork for the fix so i dont know exactly what they did. they had my car for 6 weeks because of sway bar and end links, they said it took forever to get the parts because they dont ever really break. my service guy told me that they failed to put shims in so the perches weren't tight and causing them to move. service manager was an ass and basically accused me of doing something to the car but then he said "were going to cover it." i think the whole geometry thing is BS, its a BMW part made for the car. they say its at risk for messing up again.
