I tried changing the fuel pump tappets, but they're not the ones doing it. I'm already racking my brain trying to figure out what that is...

Is it coming from the top or bottom end?

It's coming from above, very clearly audible under the right passenger wheel.

After warming up, it goes away and the car runs perfectly. The sound doesn't increase when accelerating

It’s hard to tell from the audio clip, but if it clears up when warm, and is best heard from the pass side of the engine bay, it could be an exhaust leak. Exhaust leaks are more of a tick than a knock though.

Are there any drivability issues when it’s cold?

The car is running great, no errors. But this noise is really driving me crazy...

It seems the usual fuel pump weird noise all S58 have when starting cold. It smooths and goes away after the engine is warm

Could also be what Giak said, as we have two mechanically driven HPFPs on top of the engine.

My 2020 x4m doesn't make that noise at the same temperature.

Sounds similar to mine and typical for the other G8X cars I’ve been around regularly.

I have a 2026 with less than 1000 miles and it has a similar noise when the idle drops after coming off cold start. It completely goes away after short a drive.

it’s the hpfp’s in cold weather. it’s normal. s55’s had that also but since it was under the intake manifold it was less noticeable

Problem solved.

The oil pump was replaced with a new one.

Apparently, the play was due to the infrequent oil changes by the previous owner.
