Bricked 8HP76 TCU from failed xHP flash, need help recovering

I attempted an xHP transmission tune on my 2022 G80 M3 Competition (RWD, GA8HP76Z, Gen3 8HP with TC277 chip). The flash failed at approximately 30% multiple times, leaving the TCU in a partial-write state.
  • TCU has no OBD communication at all
  • Car will not start (drivetrain malfunction)
  • xHP app cannot connect to restore the Stage 0 backup
  • BMW dealer confirmed no communication with EGS module via ISTA and quoted $7,500 for mechatronic replacement
  • The xHP flash never fully completed, so no Stage 0 backup was ever synced

My hope is that I could restore the firmware using a Yanhua ACDP-2 but would need the files or file to restore.

Any help would be appreciated

XHPs response:
Code:
Please disconnect the car's battery for 30 minutes and flash an uninstall Flash.
It seems like there is something in the CAN BUS.
Are you sure there is no aftermarket tool installed?
Have tried everything they have suggested and everything suggested online for similair issues. There is no aftermarket tools installed. Sadly it seems that I have faulty TCU communication, very strange.

Did you have Apple CarPlay on when flashing?

if it is truly no longer reachable over OBD it can still be recovered on a bench. bflash, flex, and other tools can do it. There is no circumstance where a new mechatronics unit should be needed.

it has to be done by bench connection, you need to find someone local with a tool that can do it. not done remotely.

There are a couple BMW specializing shops around us that might be able to help. I don't have my car yet (should hit port tomorrow) but been researching our area for a bit. Maybe give some of them a call tomorrow? Bimmer Haus is one example of a shop I've seen pop up.

Find someone with a bflash or a flex. Then you just need to write the flash part, not the eeprom part. Reflash with E-sys and voila. I can help with recovery as long as you provide correct tool.

Exactly – find someone who uses bflash or flex (I personally use bflash) and you’ll be able to flash it without any problems using Bench.

I’ve remapped hundreds of these gearboxes without any issues. I now use Autotuner OBD because it’s so user-friendly. 8hp Flashtool isn’t a reliable tool either.

flex can’t handle some versions, so you better get bflash. Pcmflash is an option as well.
