Noise when turning

When I pull out of my home and turn a sharp left or right slowly out of my driveway I hear a clicking/rubbing noise.

I just had my break in service and of course they couldn’t replicate the sound nor could they find anything wrong with the suspension or tire rubbing.

Has anyone had a similar problem? Problem only occurs when I first turn the car or if I let it sit for a good 30/45 minutes.

Probably your front diff unlocking when you back out and the front wheels take a different radius. Mine does it every time I back out of the driveway into the street.

It's normal. Cold tires. Aggressive geometry. Hard turn, suspension goes "pop".

I know it is an old post, but I just want to know if it is a common deal.

When I have my car (G80) back out of the garage, it makes a noise when the steering is turned, almost like a grinding/rubbing noise. But after I drive it for a bit, and it does not. It doesn’t sound like clicking or popping.

What I understand is that the Ackerman effect will be more of a skipping or popping noise.

I have BMW OEM 706M wheels (from F90) with Michelin x-Ice winter tires with 12mm spacers on the front, so the offset difference with the factory is 4mm.

Do any of you guys have a similar issue?

I dunno about grinding/rubbing. That might be ur spacer. I get a clunk frequently when backing out and cranking the wheel. That seems to be normal.

The spacer was my original thought too.
But when I start to drive for 10 min or so, and when I am trying to replicate the same sound, it does not happen anymore.
It only happens when I back out of the garage for the first time.

I hear you. U can always take the front spacers off and confirm that’s not the issue.

No grinding here. I found my cold pop/clink sound as being the front axle where it enters the wheel carrier. Car was cold and up on wheel blocks from wrenching the night before. I was feeling around on the suspension for a clunk/play and needed to get under more, so I grabbed a front axle to pull myself in and heard/felt the “ping”. Mine is a non-issue. 👍

Thanks for the input.
It was the noise that the tire was rubbing on the fins on the fender liner.
For now, I grind out some plastic fins for clearance and ordered the clearance plate.
Thanks for your input 👍

That’s the sound I get in the mornings when backing out of garage cranking the wheel. It makes nervous every time it does that.

I was searching forums and have this exact issue. It’s like a tire rubbing noise when turning hard left or right of the steering wheel. I hear when parked and turn wheel hard right or left (louder on the left ). Brand new 2025 m3 comp, only 600 miles on it.

Did you ever get this resolved/cleared? I have a 2026 G83 with Pirelli P Zero summer tires and with less than 5K miles and I've been experiencing the same thing. Every time I reverse out of a driveway, or pull off straight out of a parked spot, I'll feel a pop or several pop sensations (and pop sounds) as I'm slowly turning in either direction. It doesn't have to be a full lock, it pops as i'm turning the car in reverse or forward close to a full turn. Curious to know if this is normal but doesn't sound or feel normal...
