I would not trust a generic auto shop and the dealership would be insanely expensive I’d assume.
If you are at all handy, and have ever done a brake job for any other car, with the proper tools, a BMW brake pad change is pretty basic.

But if you don't feel comfortable - don't. Dealerships are 2 hours at $200 per hour.
