Battery Tender\Maintainer

I am looking for some input on keeping my 2025 M3 Comp xdrive's battery up while it sits out the winter. She'll probably sit from Jan till beginning of Apr since they have already salted roads here. Contacted dealer but no bueno.. Not sure if anyone has a recommended tender\charger\maintainer and if there are any specific procedures for using it (I.e. disconnect battery etc...)

This works really well: https://www.amazon.com/NOCO-GENIUS10...zcF9hdGY&psc=1

You can also go for a lower current option but I feel this is the best value for your money.

Thanks for the input...

So do you connect it under the hood with the battery connected or do you go directly to the battery in the trunk with the battery disconnected?

Under the hood. Look for the positive terminal under a red cap near the passenger side where the strut brace bolts up. There is also a grounding nut there as well. Make sure to use the lithium mode also!!!

Got it... Wasn't sure if keeping everything connected was a best practice... I've got the NORCO Boost 3000amp box and really like that product...

I dont think that will work actually thats not a charger. You need a lithium specific charger.

No... didn't mean it to charge or maintain... just that I liked that manufacturers product(s)... Will be ordering the one you suggested...

I have the same one and have used it on my 25 M4 Comp. Agree it works really well and has the added benefit of working on AGM and Standard batteries also.

The CTEK/Battery Tenders are pretty dated. Antigravity has their new line of chargers out for both AGM and Lithium batteries.

I can also vouch for Noco Genius, I have a genius 1 and 5 and they work so well. Have never had any issues, currently using the 1 on my M3 that has been sitting the last few weeks, and 5’s on my other 2 cars.

So I got a Genius 10 today... I guess I need to find out what type of battery I have since the manual didn't tell me. And after watching YouTube from NOCO they say not to use any NOCO on any vehicles with Lithium batteries without a BMS (Battery Management System) I can't imagine these vehicles not have one but looking for info\suggestions\guidance\etc...

The battery in a G83 (and I suppose the others as well) is under the bottom cover in the trunk.

BMW explains how to identify a Li-ion battery in one of their service bulletins:
Don't know what "AFAIK" is, think it's not good but in any case, did verify it was a Lithium battery so connected everything up (under the hood), selected the Lithium setting and all is well...

Thanks to everyone who helped with this...

Yes it will charge a bit slower and wont be able to power the car by itself but it will work.

This is what a previous thread recommended. I've used it for 2 winters with success. Connected to the engine bay terminals and tucked under my cover.

Just got the Noco Genius 10. Will be nice to have for the M, wife’s SQ5 with AGM battery, and son’s Rogue which has an old school lead acid.
