So after comparing a bunch of different typecodes and coding data I have come to the following conclusions for LCI G80 6MT cars.

Generally people are "selling" the following coding/flash services

- Gearbox/Transmission CS/CSL Flash - for both xDrive and non xDrive vehicles

- DSC Flash (CS/CSL)

- Steering Flash (CS/CSL)

- Differential Flash (CS/CSL)

- Suspension Flash (LCI/CS/CSL)


Quickly addressing the warranty situation. If you get caught doing this and there's an issue this it will 100% void your warranty. Not sure why people are saying it wont. Pretty disingenuous in my opinion.
Now having said that, what are the odds that something breaks, you go in to get it checked out, then they decide to look at the software on your car realize its not stock and raise a red flag causing your warranty to be voided. Probably slim but BMW can very easily (and maybe they already have) create a tool that just checks your software against what they expect to be a known good config. But again I agree the likelihood of this happening is very low. You decide how much risk you want to take on.



Transmission - if you have an auto, go for it. This is probably the most impactful of all the items in terms of actual driving experience.

Steering - you have 2 options:

CS Coding:

CSL Coding:

I tried both and preferred the CSL coding. Felt it was slightly more responsive and had better feedback.

You can try both and decide whats best for you. Both were a noticeable improvement over stock in my opinion.

The DSC/Diff coding -

This is where its gets a bit tricky as it seems to be broken up into 2 different parts.

Diff coding in the DSC_VIP_IB4 module and Traction control coding in DSC_BRS_IB

The Diff settings are comprised of the following parameters

QdmAllradTyp: xdrive modifier
QdmDiffAllrad: chassis specific
QdmDiffReglerHA: chassis and drivetrain specific
QdmGbrVerteilung: chassis specific


QdmGbrVerteilung and QdmDiffAllrad are exactly the same on M4 LCI and CSL and QdmDiffReglerHA is different. The CS has updated values. However all these settings are specific to the chassis and the drivetrain RWD vs AWD.

Most direct applications will involve matching the chassis and the drivetrain.

In the case of a RWD M3 there is no match. No RWD M3 CSL/CS.

While the settings can be applied and I have tried many variations cs/csl and a mix of this they reduce the overall stability of the chassis and would not recommend. Im sure if you have a direct match you will have a much better result.

M4 Xdrive cars to m4 cs can make use of all settings
m4 comp/base to m4 csl can make use of all settings
and m3 xdrive to m3 cs can make sure of all settings

Do not recommend m3 RWD cars apply these diff tunings they are not designed for this setup.


DSC is a wash, you can get slightly modified MDM parameters but if you have M drive professional (10 stage TC) its useless.


Suspension is also up for debate. The LCI cars have updated damper settings and overall I feel this is the better option vs flashing CS/CSL damper settings. No idea what impact this has on pre LCI cars but if you are LCI this probably isnt useful for you also.


So to summarize if you have an auto transmission go for the transmission flash. You will notice the difference.

For Diff settings, make sure to match drivetrain and chassis. If no match dont apply new settings.

For DSC you can apply the settings but I wouldn't apply them for M3 RWD cars.

On the suspension if you have an LCI car I wouldnt mess with it. You already have updated damper settings.


Now for a dump of random coding diffs for anyone who could find it useful. Thank you to chris and everyone else that helped me figure this out!

Quickly addressing the warranty situation. If you get caught doing this and there's an issue this it will 100% void your warranty. Not sure why people are saying it wont. Pretty disingenuous in my opinion.
Now having said that, what are the odds that something breaks, you go in to get it checked out, then they decide to look at the software on your car realize its not stock and raise a red flag causing your warranty to be voided. Probably slim but BMW can very easily (and maybe they already have) create a tool that just checks your software against what they expect to be a known good config. But again I agree the likelihood of this happening is very low. You decide how much risk you want to take on.



Transmission - if you have an auto, go for it. This is probably the most impactful of all the items in terms of actual driving experience.

Steering - you have 2 options:

CS Coding:

So to confirm before I go digging around in my car, if I have a 2024 M4 Comp xDrive that I got in November of 23’, what would I change exactly? Which of the values you listed would most apply to my case?

- steering flash
- differential flash

Well the thing is you cant code in the transmission flash and the suspension flash.

If you dont know what you're doing it I would look into purchasing coding services from one of the coders.

So at that point you might as well get them to do all of them.

If you want you can code in steering dsc/diff but I feel like for cars with an automatic transmission thats probably the biggest difference maker which most people likely would need to buy coding services to get.
