Millitek single fitment with other (non OEM) axle back exhausts?
Bought the new 4” milltek midpipe with a MAD axleback (from mike@x-ph.com, and had fitment issues. Shop had to put my previous exhaust back on. Here are the issues, hoping someone can help:
1. Exhaust flange on midpipe is very thick; too thick to secure with IRL downpipes. Can you remove the bolts from the stock downpipes (I still have them)? 2. Midpipe might touch differential (although hard to say it definitely will without securing everything). 3. This midpipe comes with two options; one for the OEM axle back or Milltek axle back (what do you choose if you have another brand?). *I chose OEM midpipe version as I wasn’t using a milltek axleback and figured the OEM axle back would be in approximately the same location as this MAD axle back. Main problem is MAD axle back starts at 3” and OEM starts at 2.75”, so the couplers/clamps don’t work. Hoping someone can help, although I know it’s the weekend, so I’m stuck. Understand, these things happen, but also bummed that I blew all the install labor money on basically nothing. Thanks for your help. |

I can't see how it will touch the differential. I've had my Valvetronic muffler touch my diff and slightly dent the muffler before. IMO, you're going to have to take it to an exhaust shop to get this done. You will need to measure the diameter of the end of the Milltek piping and see which step down exhaust reducer you will need. From there, it may not even be the correct length and require cutting so the hangars on the MAD axleback will work. |

![]() I don’t need to step down reducer as I’m not using the stock axle back. The stock axle back starts at 2.75”, the MAD axleback starts at 3”, so I need clamps and couplers that are 3” to 3” from what I understand and that’s not available in either kit. I’m wondering whether the milltek to milltek (single mid to axleback) comes with 3” to 3”? I’m just trying to acquire the right parts so I dont waste more time and money for another failed install. Perhaps mike@x-ph.com has different connector pipes/clamps for the MAD axleback system for this midpipe? Thank you for your help. |

Diff issue: The diff is its widest at the top so if they can drop it down just under the widest smallest fins you will get a little more clearance. Not sure if the midpipe will allow this or not. Mating to our exhaust: If they are 3 inch and ours is 3 inch all you need is a butt clamp. Such as this ![]()

Thank you so much for your help. I’ll get those butt clamps. The milltek flange is unusually thick without it in hand, I’m gonna guess about 10mm. Maybe when I got the irl downpipes installed with the current midpipe they used shorter bolts as most aftermarket downpipes don’t have studs, I’m not sure? Appreciate it again hopefully Mike can chime in, I haven’t heard this type of issue with this midpipe fitment. I’m almost ready to just say screw it and get your midpipe to make sure.

It's possible the milltek axle back is 3 inch and that was the option you should of chose to get the correct clamps? Details are fairly vague. Edit: measure their connecting pipes to be sure they are 3 inch before buying any clamps.

This is helpful information - thank you OP for posting. I have the same Milltek midpipe as you and I’m planning on getting an axleback soon here (was eyeing the MAD Titanium). Please keep us posted on your resolution.

The Millitek axle back does not state the size in the description, so who knows? So, it’s kind of a crap shoot if we want to use another axle back besides OEM or theirs, which is absurdly expensive. |

I will. I was so looking forward to this setup yesterday. At least I can help out others contemplating using this pipe without OEM or milltek axle back

If you have the part in hand I would measure the connecting pipe diameter to be sure you get the correct clamp.

Thank you for the feedback OP
When purchasing the Milltek midpipe, you have the option to pick which exhaust it's connecting to (stock 2.75" , Milltek 3") If you have an aftermarket exhaust, pick the option that matches your exhaust pipe diameter. In this case, MAD matches Milltek at 3" Unfortunately, i do not have any additional clamps to offer but as MAD said, a butt clamp should fix the issue

mike@x-ph.com azlightning213 Info@mad-us.com Update on fitment. Bought new 3” clamps and still there is a significant fitment issue.
The MAD axleback pipes touch the rear differential (see pics). I thought about moving the hangers up to drop the axleback down, but then the pipes are in danger of hitting the ground, and the exhaust tips do not align with the diffuser correctly. My shop StudioRSR agreed. So, I have to take it to another exhaust shop and have custom pipes fabricated. Please take note for all those who wish to use the milltek midpipe with another axleback besides the OEM or milltek muffler. It’s a crapshoot whether it will fit. Two suggestions. 1. try to twist and lower the pipes below the diff slightly. The rear axle is there so there is not much risk of touching in that area. 2. You can try and trim the connecting pipes just a tad where it goes into the axle back This would bring them out slightly more .
