Wouldn’t that technically be the G87 M2? I believe that production schedule extends beyond the G8X.

I know this is an old post but same thing happened to me. Leased a 2025 M4 in July. Immediately regretted it because what I really wanted was the M3. Ended up selling the car back in just a month, 10% discount meant that I didn't lose any money thankfully lol. Immediately ordered a G80

M3 and M4 are the same car, are you sure your buddy didn’t have an M440i?

I just took delivery of my 25 M4. When I ordered about 2-3 months ago it was not very hard to find an M3 or an M4 allocation or available production slot. I could’ve gotten a M3 production slot that a customer supposedly backed out of, but I wanted an M4. I got an M4 production slot again that the dealer told me suddenly became available a month or two later. Discount on M4 is a little easier but the price difference makes it about even. There are now a good amount of used models in the marketplace so deals can be had on either and availability is not nearly as difficult as many think. The M3 fan boys like to tell themselves their car is more rare and valuable but I’m not seeing it. Either can be ordered with relative ease and discounts are available. Many dealers have in stock M3’s / M4’s available and those can be snatched up at 5-10% under msrp easily. I doubt 2026 models / allocations will be anymore difficult to get.

5%-10% off an M3? I think the absolute lowest anyone has posted is $4k off.

I’m taking about one already in the showroom, not ordered from the factory. I would bet 5-10% is realistic considering the amount of low mileage used options available.

You would lose that bet.

Maybe- I had two dealerships offering me 4-5% off an M3 allocation just a couple months ago. I would think I would be able to do better than that on a car that is in the showroom. My local dealership has two M3‘s and an M4 that have been sitting there for a while now. Obviously, there’s a big difference between a car you want to order and one that’s on the lot already.

It depends on the demand in your local market. M3s never make it to the showroom in my local market and no one is getting discounts.

Mind sharing which dealer? PM is fine if you don’t want to do it publicly

Jump on the waiting list now. When I went to order back in July, my dealer told me I'm looking at a 2026 model. So a 12 month wait. Had to use a broker then.

Do you guys not call around? Plenty of dealers have allocations available.
