I noticed this seems to happen more often when I remote start the car. If I get in the car first and then start it, most of the time this won't happen. If it does happen, usually I can wait a bit and it eventually connects. A few times I've had to hard reboot iDrive. One of those reboots it got super wonky, displaying the cameras but with a lot of noise/distortion. Another reboot recovered that and soon after my phone connected.

Just to make us ID8 people feel better, we took the wife's X5 on a road trip (ID7) and the same error popped up using her Carplay. Took a restart of iDrive and her phone to resolve.

It appears a code gets triggered when this happens. I'm not sure what value this is to resolving the issue, but I guess that would at least get a dealer to look into it if any of us are inclined.

I’ve gotten this bluetooth message a handful of times and it never mattered because my phone (iPhone) would connect anyway.
Now my phone won’t connect at all …I have restarted the phone and that didn’t change the situation. So I guess it’s time to restart iDrive … Edit: I didn't restart iDrive; I removed my phone from Mobile Devices and readded it. It worked right away. Shrug ... Charles

This happened to me yesterday for the first time. 23, iDrive8 with a pending software update but the apps have been updated. iPhone15pm.
Deleted my device in iDrive and it paired right back up. We'll see how long it lasts. |

Ugh, was gone Thanksgiving week and when I got back, been getting this constantly. Had to reboot iDrive and that worked but then couldn't get it to work this morning.
This is a real PITA. |

Since the problem varies without the car software updating, I wonder how much AA and Carplay are to blame. It's almost like a connection handshake issue.

I may have found a solution, at least for Android Auto. In doing research through other car forums and Reddit, it appears that 'optimized' is the default setting. Change this to unrestricted or off.
So far I've had no connection or disconnect then reconnect issues since changing that.
