Installing Bavsound Ghost Subs on '25 M4 LCI
Figured I would drop a post about my experience installing Bavsound Ghost Subs on my ‘25 M4 LCI.
As you may know for a while BMW has switched to gluing in the subs into the enclosure, requiring you to remove the whole enclosure, which meant removing some fasteners for some wiring that went over the enclosure. Then you would have to use a heat gun to soften the adhesive and pry them from the enclosure, then using self-drilling/tapping screws to put the new speakers in. Then reinstall the whole enclosure. Basically a real pain in the ass. But I am here to report that at least in the ‘25 M4 LCI BMW has went back to just screwing the speakers into the enclosure! No more removing the whole thing. Install was painless and quick. Take out the 4 T50 screws that hold in the seat then tilt the seat back. Remove the 4 T20 screws to remove the grill. Unplug the speaker (make sure you get a flashlight in there to see the little clip you have to depress to release the plug). Then it’s just 4 more silver T20 screws that hold the speaker in the enclosure. Then lift out the old speaker. Drop the new Ghost Sub in and do everything in reverse order that your just did. Voilà! As for a review on the Bavsound Ghost Subs: They def make a difference. (Disclaimer I have no other audio mods, completely stock). Before I had to have the bass turned way up and did some EQ setting that I got from another thread to even get acceptable bass. Now I have the bass neutral and the EQ settings Bavsound provides and the bass is much punchier and sharper. (Keep in mind there is a 20hr break-in period). Would I say that these are the ultimate solution for the crap HK system, No. But I think it is enough for me as I am not a audiophile. |
