G82 Carbon Buckets swap with G80 Standard Seat

Hey guys,

I have an opportunity to purchase carbon bucket seats for a reasonable price but unsure if the G82 seat will fit/work properly in my G80.

Does anyone have any experience with this? Or see any issues?

The G82 front seatbelts bolt to the car pillar, the G80 front seatbelts bolt to the seats.

No, they aren't interchangeable. Unless you want to deal with some minor issues. The G82 front seats have a pull handle. When you pull the handle, the seat tilts, auto slides forward to access the rear seats. The M3 doesn't have the handle, and does not pull forward and slide, so, you would have no access to the rear seats, without manually moving the power seat, if someone wanted to get into the back. Then you also have a slight seat belt issue.

Bummer, I appreciate the responses.

Yeah; sorry to burst your bubble. I don’t think most are willing to deal with the differences.

Considering they're considering swapping G82 into their G80, I don't think that'd be much of an issue, but the installation differences are definitely the deal breaker.

Reviving this thread - if I’m installing G82 Buckets into a G80, the handle doesn’t really concern me as I have the 4DR to get into the back seats. Anyone know what installation differences there would be? Would the seat rails be the same?

The handle isn’t the issue, it’s the seatbelt mount which is built into the seat rails on the 4 door and won’t exist on your new seats.
