Insurance in Australia
Who are people insuring with…getting no bites when using compare the market for my M4 G3 LCI due in August/ September.
Car will be in wife’s name who also has insurance on her Mini Cooper S. No accidents and always to be garaged. |

They were significantly better for price and agreed value than RACV for me in the first year (33yo male, $210k agreed), and renewal I just paid went down significantly despite nothing else changing which is awesome.
I moved my LC300 and my wife’s G01 X3 (in her name, 33yo) across too as both were much cheaper than the existing RACV policies. |

When the G83 gets delivered I will probably move my wife’s Mini as well and checking other insurance looks like I can save some more.
Both us drivers are over 60 and had licences since 15 no accidents including living in the US for 8 years in LA and Dallas. Thanks again |

Only bad thing about allianz is they allow zero mods! As soon as you mod anything, even a valve controller they will wipe your insurance. I am looking at shannons at the moment as they will insure with mods but are more expensive.

It wasnt in the PDS, when I called to get insurance I said I had a mid pipe and they said they would not offer me insurance. I asked if they covered any mods, she said no. I then asked what happens if I had no mods and added them later and did not inform you, they would wipe the insurance if they found modifications. I said what would happen if I informed you that I have modified the car, she said they would have to cancel my insurance and I would have to find a new insurer.

‘Modified car insurance’ isn’t a specific product you can buy, but your modified vehicle could be covered by a standard car insurance policy.
As long as the mods are legal, they should be insurable. Some illegal mods in Australia: - Window tinting that doesn’t meet the transparency ratings of your state - Lowering a vehicle too close to the ground (< 100 mm) - Major upgrades to engine - Major upgrades to transmission - Or, changes in the configuration of a car that hasn’t been approved by the appropriate regulatory bodies.
