Yup, I saw that too. Would I prefer to get it done at a local shop…sure…but, considering that this shop has a great reputation and doing PPF all day everyday not only for PC but all kinds of cars (high end and not so much), I’m sure it’ll be fine. It certainly beats spending money on tracwrap and trying to make that stuff work on the spot.

Got my PCD date, mid October. Also made appointment at Extreme Auto Spa to get the car PPFed. Thank you ManhattanBMW for the info.

This is getting to be exciting.

You are welcome, and will have a great time. I picked up my car last week at the PC, got it PPF’ed, participated in the New Owner’s Driver Program, had my radar detector hard-wired to my car’s interior overhead lights, and put around 800 miles on my car on the drive back to NYC, leaving just 400 miles until the end of the break-in period. BTW - factory tour has now restarted. Here is a picture of my new car in front of the PC.

Loving the photo! Did you get to take the factory tour instead of the museum visit?

Yes, but it is an abbreviated factory tour, however, it is much better than a museum tour. The museum is not much (unlike at the Welt in Munich), however, the gift shop at the museum is a great place for retail therapy. Also, don't forget the shop at the Performance Center, that has items you cannot get elsewhere.

Awesome looking car there.

I saw your other thread about some issues with your dealer/ BMW about registration/ inspection.... what do you mean by that?
I'm from NY as well and did PCD back in March, all I had to bring was a temp. plate that dealer gave me .... inspection was done once I get back to NY. I did not have any issues at all. I guess your dealer missed that step?

I will be doing PCD again on 10/24 (MY25 M240), glad to see factory tour is available now.

Hey all. I saw manhattan’s front license plate. Does anyone know what the European style license plate frame works? Like is that a port installed option or can you get that done after you take possession of it? Do you have to have to tell the dealership not to drill the normal front license plate holes?

Also this is not helpful to this side of the forum but for the people who like to jam out in the car to some awesome tunes, I’ve often heard that the M3’s (M4 too?) has overall crappy speakers. I’ve seen a somewhat easy fix to replace the speakers below the front driver/passenger seats. It just involves removing a few bolts to get the seats out of the way and removing floor panel. The speakers are like 6-8 inches in diameter. You can go all out and replace the amp and all the speakers but this was a small fix that can make a big difference!

Just thought I would throw this out here in case you hadn’t heard

I asked my dealership if that would be an option, and they said that providing me with a temporary plate was not an option. Have a great time, and don't forget to leave yourself time for retail therapy at the PC and the Welt Museum, since they have items that cannot be be purchased elsewhere. And I was very happy with the PPF work done by Extreme Auto Spa, in that I had the front, doors, and rear bumper done in one day. If you have an extra day, and it lands on a Monday, Wednesday or Friday, you can also look into more track time with the New Owner's Driver's Day. I did that, as my car was being PPF'ed.

The picture of my M6 was from 2012, when BMW had ED. I still have my Munich plates (plus a safety vest, reflective triangle, and first aid kit), and the plates were attached to the front bumper with just tape for the time I had the car in Germany. Everyone should write to the CEO of BMW NA ("Sebastian Mackensen"), and ask for BMW to bring back ED. It is an amazing experience, and if Porsche does it, why shouldn't BMW? Previously, you got a 5% discount on MSRP for ED, but I would pay $2,500 (which Porsche charges) for both ED and PCD.
