Can CSL DRLs cause an issue with the servo motors / adaptive headlights?

Can CSL DRLs cause an issue with the servo motors / adaptive headlights?

I replaced my DRL's well over a year ago and recently I've been having an error message show up that says the adaptive headlights are not working. The error message will show up and then go away after a while.

I take it to the dealership and they are saying because I installed the DRLs, they are interrupting the servo motors for the headlights and that to put the OEM DRLs back on.

I don't think this is right since I was very careful with replacing the DRLs and put everything back in its place. The ONLY thing I changed was the small LED chip to make the lights yellow. That was over a year ago. Why would that be causing a problem with the motors now?

Purely speculation on my part but low quality LEDs, faulty LEDs, or mismatched power consumption between LEDs can cause excessive heat which can cause all sorts of problems as the heat damaged everything around it. In this case it seems the dimensions of the new LED are interfering somewhere.

Your dealer is telling you to reinstall your original LEDs if you want them to look at this issue under warranty again.

Yep. Put your originals back in correctly and if the issue is still there, they’ll then be able to deal with the problem, as long as they don’t come back with the possibility of the yellows messing it up and damaging other things in the headlight due to that, so reverting back to stock won’t be warrantied.

If reverting back to stock fixes the issue without doing anything else and it stays working, then you need your yellows replaced under warranty and you probably should go with a more reliable option.
