Ohlins R&T (x-drive)

Anyone running this kit on their cars?
I ran it on my e92 - and it went quite a bit low - but was wondering if anyone was having issues with running the suspension on max low

I don't know about running it on max low, but Ohline R&T is one of the best and most reliable kits on the market. We rarely see any issues with them.

On G8x xdrive you are looking at 25mm front and 20mm rear. When you say max low, are you looking to go beyond that?

What are your concerns?

Probably one of the best performing street suspensions on the market today when properly set up. How did you like it on your E92 M3?

yes, I would like
to go far lower than the 25mm advertised.

The limitation is the the front half shafts. You can only go so low before the adjusters to make contact.

You can also try negative preload, but that that is not recommended. Another option is to do negative preload with a helper spring.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't bummed. going to contact others for a solution hopefully.

DrRay81 has them. Had some issues with the height but he worked it out with pre-load. Spent plenty of time back and forth with Ohlin and the installer who we all use. He’s got a whole thread on it.

Negative preload is where it is for the extra lowering.

If you are concerned about negative preload, feel free to reach out for a pair of the Ohlins helper springs.

The camber plates Ray is using from Vorshlag have the same spring stack height as OE but has a TALLER strut stack height from OE. This allows the top of the strut ("pin") to fit below where the camber plate is bolted to the body to allow the "pin" of the strut to fit UNDER the body for additional camber adjustability.

This poses a problem as this added strut height relative to OE can have a number of less preferred results. First, it could reduce bump travel if you cannot adjust how far the strut casing can be adjusted into the suspension upright (like the R&T's unique feature owners like so much).

The problem with xDrive cars is you can simply adjust the strut extremely low relative to the upright because the axle boot is there. This is the situation Ray is in with the Vorshlag mounts and is why owners retaining the OE mounts do not have a similar issue.

Millway reports specifically having the same stack height as OE for the spring AND the shock. This is important as manufacturers like Öhlins develop their street-oriented suspension systems retaining the OE top mount and it's geometry.

Hope this helps clarify the circumstances.
