Getting better at it but not trying to get more advanced. Any good “intermediate” or “advanced” videos you guys could direct me to on YouTube?

Thanks
It's really a matter of reps, really understanding where the engagement point is, practicing starts on inclines, and playing around a bit to figure how to be smooth, and after that, practicing to become quicker. You'll get a lot more from practice (and making mistakes) than YouTube videos. And you get to be in the car!

I'll pile on ..

I exclusively drove German cars with manual transmissions from 1978 to 2013, except for 3 years in an E53 X5 and a year in an E90 M3. I've driven auto BMWs since 2013 mainly because winters here favor xDrive (most recently G82 M4Cx and X3M).

The M4 and X3M are both supremely competent, but something's missing: driver involvement. If that's important, and your driving habitat offers the opportunity, I'd recommend the manual while you/we still have a chance.

My lease expires right before the G80 goes out of production, so I've already chosen my next move -- winter driving conditions be damned.

Good luck with the 6MT, you’ll pick it up in no time!

I’m excited to get back into a manual for my G80, have owned a few cars after my manual E92 M3 (most recently a C63s AMG) and none of them brought me the driver involvement, fun, or general ‘it’ factor like the manual.

I own a 6mt it’s not my daily it’s my my fun weekend car and it was a no brainer to row my own gears having owned many other European cars in manual I’m partial to them. I’ve driven the G8X and yes it’s faster but it did not all give me or my stomach the same thrill. This could be consumers last chance to own a new third pedal car!

There's no questioning it...get the 6 speed.

You'll never want an auto again unless the car you want just doesn't come in a manual....which is where things are headed so make the move while you can.

Another vote from me for the manual transmission. The automatic with xdrive is definitely faster, but the car is so damn fast for street driving with either transmission that it doesn't really matter practically. Even though I disagree with others that say that this is a bad MT car, I'd still take a "bad" MT over an automatic just for the fun and engagement.
