Of course I was. And I told them it was too high. They said that was what their system said was correct.

This isn't my first rodeo buying a car out of state so I knew I'd end up getting a refund.

Not sure why that matters anyways - overcharging sales tax and not submitting it to the respective state/county is not only unethical, it is also illegal.

Doesn’t matter what he was quoted with if it was wrong, even if he didn’t know it at the time (which he did). Just because you don’t know the laws surrounding sales tax doesn’t mean the dealership is entitled to that money.

As for your last remark in the review..."I wouldn’t recommend this dealership to my worst enemy." Oh I certainly would!

I'm sorry, maybe this came off the wrong way, what I meant was that I wouldn't proceed with an order until it was quoted correctly.

The dealership is obviously not entitled to that money, totally agree this is messed up and they owe you that money 100%.

All I'm saying from the other side, given that I quote people on cars daily, I go thru great pains and spend good money on tools to be sure tax and reg costs are accurate, what I was just wondering is if you were quoted ahead of time, knew it was wrong, and still decided to proceed?

Props for staying patient for so long. I would’ve gotten BMW corporate involved after a couple of months of getting the run around.

They ensured it was correct and I wasn't going to change their minds. M3 allocations aren't exactly easy to come by, so it's not like I could just go to the next dealer down the street.

But like I said, not my first rodeo. A refund check gets sent to the dealer and usually they just write you a check for the difference. Never had an issue before.
