All year round, no matter the temperature, every M car I have ever owned... And one of them is a convertible I still own - drive it all the time straight through the winter. Hec, I plan and take wintertime trips.

Yeah I meant driving summer tires or PS4S in freezing temperatures. Of course if you have winter tires then you can drive them below freezing!

Idk if you guys know but these tires warm up when you keep driving so even in 40 degrees it will go upto 55-60 + degrees after they warm up. I NEVER had traction issues or loss of traction accidentally on any of my cars.

The guy slipped on Black Ice and there is nothing you can do about that, idc what tires you put on. Period.
I have PSS on my M2C and common sense not to drive them below 50 like the manufacturer recommends.

One year when I had my E36M3, it was late October before I got around to putting on my winter tires. When I stacked the summer tires, I noticed there was frozen water, yes ice IN the soft compound. I was driving on frozen tires.

I wanted to give an update on this situation. I appreciate all the get well wishes, all the safety concern regarding different tire types and other concerns regarding speed/etc. I want to make this clear, I am happy nobody was harmed from this situation and going forward I will use season appropriate tires on my cars. There are a few people whom made comment regarding being too cheap to switch tires etc and that is simply not the case. I understand it was a terrible judgement on my part and while I can’t go back in the past..going forward it will be different. Based on the picture the car was totaled. Fortunately I walked away from this situation with just a broken ego. For the almost 2 years I owned this car it has brought nothing but joy, happiness and I got to meet a lot of random people at various places because it’s a topic of conversation. I am truly heartbroken that I lost the car but life goes on. Since renewal my car insurance did not go up nor will it go up. I added a beautiful M5CS as my daily driver. If you guys see a white M5CS with an interesting license plate, honk twice! Be safe everyone and have a blessed day.

Glad you're OK. A broken ego isn't always a bad thing, and most of us have been there at least once. How about a pic of your new M5CS so we can all see the happy ending?

OP spent 2 years enjoying an M4, saved on winter tires, upgraded to an M5 CS on insurance dime, and kept premiums unchanged.

Very respectable finesse. A few more iterations and it’ll be a P1. Seriously though, glad you weren’t injured. I’ve always lived in the southeast so changing to winter tires for winter is completely unfamiliar to me.
